R e t i r e m e n t s Jerilyn Marshall has retired as head of research and user services at Rod Library, University of Northern Iowa after 20 years of service. Prior to moving to Iowa, Mar- shall worked as reference/instruction librar- ian at Schaffner Library, Northwestern Uni- versity; the University of Kentucky; and the Newberry Library. While earning an MLS at Vanderbilt University she held an intern position at the Heard Library there. Prior to graduate library school she worked as a library assistant at the Humanities, Social Sciences, and Education (HSSE) Library at Purdue University. She has been active in several ALA groups through the years, es- pecially with the ACRL Distance Learning Section (formerly Extended Campus Library Services Section), which she joined at its in- ception in 1990. J. Richard “Rick” Sayre has retired as li- brary director at Monmouth College, after 20 years of service. Sayre’s first professional position in 1977 was with the Oklahoma College of Osteopathic Medicine in Surgery, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Following a move to Indiana, he served Indiana University Li- braries (1977–82) as ERIC Probe librarian, general reference li- brarian, and refer- ence and instruction librarian. While at In- diana University, he worked with Robert Goehlert to compile two published bibliog- raphies: U.S. Congress: A Bibliography (Free Press, 1982) and Members of Congress: A Bib- liography (Congressional Quarterly, 1996). In 1982 he returned to his alma mater, Phil- lips University, in Enid, Oklahoma, where he served as Zollars librarian until 1998. There he received the Professor Glenn Doyle Ex- cellence in Teaching Award in 1995. In 1998, Sayre was appointed as library director of Monmouth College in Monmouth, Illinois, where he oversaw a $7 million dollar reno- vation of Hewes Library that introduced sig- nificant improvements, including a coffee shop and many technological innovations to the library. While at Monmouth, he served on the Board of the Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries of Illinois. J. Richard “Rick” Sayre
