Jae Hwi Myong, biom edical cataloger at the U niversity of C alifornia, Irvine, retired on F e b ru ­ ary 28 a fter nearly 20 years of service. His previous positions included appointm ents at Yonsei U niver­ sity in Seoul, Korea, C olum bia University, and the New York Academ y of M edicine L ibrary. Robert W . Oram, director of C entral Univer­ sity L ibraries at Southern Methodist University, D allas, will retire on July 1. He cam e to SMU in 1979 from th e University of Illinois a t U rbana- C h am paign, w here he had been acting director a n d associate director. Previously he had been at th e University of Missouri in various roles, includ­ ing assistant to th e director. Since 1980 he has been executive director of the Friends of SMU Libraries. A life m em ber of ALA, O ram has served on m any of its com m ittees and editorial boards, including chair of the Booklist E ditorial Board and the N ota­ ble Books C om m ittee. He reviewed books for PBS radio station W IL L in U rbana for m any years. Jack Slater, associate director of H agerty L i­ b ra ry a t Drexel University, Philadelphia, retired in Septem ber 1988 after 24 years of service. He first held th e title of h ead of acquisitions in Septem ber 1964, w as appointed to assistant director in M arch 1966, and associate d irector of libraries in July 1971. Slater has been on the library staff at E liza­ b e thtow n College, Pennsylvania, prior to coming to Drexel in 1964.
