ACRL News Issue (B) of College & Research Libraries 564 / C&RL News ■ Septem ber 1998 I n t h e ACRL’s rich and stimulating array o f pro grams at the 1998 ALA Annual Conference explored President W. Lee Hisle’s theme of values. Bill Gass, keynote speaker at the President’s Program, upheld the value o f the physical book and decried the emphasis on the new technology noting that “the infor mation highway has no destination” and that “Misinformation Alley” is a better description for the Internet. Part one o f the report o f ACRL programs begins on page 569. Part two will be pub lished in the October issue. Although Gass may not be a fan o f the Internet, it is playing a bigger role in our library collections. Tracey DePellegrin took on the task o f visiting the ALA Exhibits and shares with us what’s hot in new digital prod ucts and services on page 577.
