Prior to ACM, Barlow served as the director of the Policy Research Collaborative at Roosevelt University. Barlow held academic appointments in geogra- phy and public policy studies at the University of Chicago. Kopecky’s primary responsibility is to lead the teaching, learn- ing, and research-related departments and services of the libraries, as well as working to ensure the libraries are highly engaged in meeting the needs of a Carnegie R1 university in a rapidly changing academic environment. She supports the libraries’ Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) committee leading EDI initiatives, training programs, and educational workshops. Kopecky also provides leader- ship for the libraries’ learning-centered ser- vice model that encourages student engage- ment, experiential learning, and knowledge creation in a collaborative environment. R e t i r e m e n t s Sharon Bostick, dean of libraries at Illinois In- stitute of Technology (IIT), retired in 2019. Bostick joined IIT in 2012. Among her many accomplish- ments, she enhanced student spaces and services to allow for innovative collaboration and learn- ing, created the Exploration Space for prototyping and experiential learning, responded to student needs by expanding overnight service to both levels of the library, and leveraged partnerships by rejoining the Center for Research Libraries and serving on the Board of Directors for the Chicago Collections Consortium. Bostick has written and presented extensively on information-seeking be- havior in university students, on academic and li- brary consortia in the United States, and academic library building design. In 2016 she brought the International Federation of Library Association to Galvin Library to host their satellite conference on library design, attended by library professionals from all over the world. She also created the Li- brary Anxiety Scale, a statistically validated instru- ment, which is in use worldwide as a diagnostic and research tool. Her contributions have helped libraries better understand and adapt to the evolv- ing needs of their users.
