From the Editor
In a dynamic profession such as ours, we necessarily keep a strong focus on the future.
Change is a watchword for science and technology librarians as we pursue our mission of
information service and we must continue to be leaders along the path to the future. Many
times however, our view of the future can be clarified by developing a sense of our
professional past. With this issue, Daryl Youngman begins a series entitled "Then & Now." This series aims to examine the origins and
development of various tools and practices as used in science and technology libraries. We
hope you find this new column interesting and we welcome your feedback about it.
