          Amy Gutmann, professor of politics and provost at Princeton University, will present two lectures Thursday and Friday (Dec. 4-5) in the Provost’s Distinguished Women’s Lecture Series at the University of Notre Dame.p. They are as follows:p. ? “Why Diversity Matters,” 4:30 p.m. Thursday, 102 DeBartolo Hall

? “Identity and Social Justice: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly,” 3 p.m. Friday, 220 Malloy Hallp. Gutmann, the Laurance S. Rockefeller University Professor of Politics at Princeton, has taught political philosophy, democratic theory, the history of political thought, and practical ethics. She is the author, co-author or editor of 13 books, most recently “Identity Groups in Democracy: A Humanist Perspective.”p. The Provost’s Distinguished Women’s Lecture Series encourages innovative forms of interaction between highly regarded women visitors and Notre Dame faculty, students and administration.
