I stand confidently on the shoulders of the Presidents who served before me. For the last 12 years, ISPN has provided a safe and nurturing environment for my professional career and leadership. I want ISPN to be a safe and supportive environment for all of us especially the next generation of psychiatric mental health nurses across the world. • To all ISPN members, thank you for your loyalty. • To our founding members and past presidents, thank you for the solid foundation you have laid for ISPN. • To our students, first time attendees, and guests, thank you for attending the 2022 conference. We hope you stay with us for years to come. Psychiatric mental health nurses, more than any other group, appreciate our interconnectedness across communities locally and globally. The COVID-19 pandemic, wars, social justice issues, and environmental challenges across the world have devastating effects on our mental health both across the lifespan and all over the world. We no longer have the leisure of working in silos. It takes a village! Therefore, we must work together and harness our power as psychiatric mental health nurses to advance mental health equity across communities locally and globally. My vision for ISPN is to strengthen our partnerships with professional and industry organizations in communities right here in the United States of America and globally. Compared to any other psychiatric mental health nurses' organization, ISPN is unique in its international reach. We have 3 signed memoranda of understanding including: 1. India Society of Psychiatric Nurses: https://ispnindia.org/ 2. Sir Lankan Professional Nurses Clinical Society: https://slpncs.org/ index.html 3. Global Alliance for Behavioral Health and Social Justice: https://www.bhjustice.org/membership/partner-organizations/ However, there is room to do more! And we have the power and expertise that it takes! For example, our regionalization efforts could be one effective conduit. We must collaborate with our colleagues across the world to effect lasting change in mental health of populations globally. The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals provide a framework to guide our understanding of pressing mental health challenges and how to address them. Here are 3 ways you can help: Contribute to planning ISPN strategic priorities for the next 3-5 years. Accept our invitations to participate over the next few months. 3. Engage students, peers, or colleagues, and community organizations (media, mental health advocacy groups, legislature, professional organizations, industry partners etc Remember to take care of yourselves and use humor wisely to promote inclusive environments wherever you are! Thank you so much for your time and support over the next year
