Now he that will obtain forgiveness of sins committed by any other mean as by hoo●es, shaven crowns pilgrimages, bulls praers, john. ● fastings, foundations etc. he is a thief and a robber yea he putteth Chryst to epproby & shame as though he wear an unmeet and unsufficient redeemer & of none effect. & was in vain. hanged on the cross, & slain with so shameful punishment, But yet whatsoever he be, the trusteth to his own works be it never so little he treadeth the precious blood of our redeemer jesus Chryst under foot, & openly denieth God as though christ were nothing in favour with the father It must be known therefore the no sacrifice is now acceptable in the sight of the father but Chryst only which offered himself to him for us once for all and ever, & by that deed, he swallowed up the sins of the holy world and made us safe from death hell and the devil so that after that there needed no sacrifice at all to be offered to him. For like as he was sense that time no more bond to death so like wise is it impossible for him to be offered any more For nothing can be made a sacrifice except it be slain. Then when the miserable papists make themselves ready to offer christ they begin too strangle Chryst and hang him again as far as in them lie, eth how foul an abomination it is we shall show by their Canon. True it is in deed that the Apostles and Prophets exhort us too offer sacrifice too God but not to offer christ but the mortifing of thold Adam i, Petri, ● and commit ourselves wholly to god This is the sacrifice which Ose. iiii god requireth of us and also that we praise & confess him without fear Seeing them it is thus it must needs follow that what sacrifice soever be found out other than this, it is false & blasphemous We shall therefore try out their canon which will make you to be amazed at the abominations that light hidden in it wi●h, yet they make to be of more, value then the Gospel. Thus beginneth the canon. The beginning of the canon, We humbly pray and be seche the most gracious father that thou accept ad bless these gifts these rewards these holy untasted sacrifices See ye what blasphemy here is even in the beginning of it Here standeth a wretched brain lease man at an Altar, & (like a fool) prayeth that he may make an acceptable a holy and untouched sacrifice, where he hath nothing but a morsel of bread and a sip of wine. Try it well for god's sake how thes words stink of a lie even at the first If it be holy) mark well the words (with what mouth, then prayeth he, that he may now obtain to make it holy? Darest thou, O man sinful and worms meat stand fourth in the sight of Goddess Maies, +tye, and before him play the fool thus with a piece of bread/ a little wine it followeth again The canon Chiefly which we offer unto y● for thy holy. Catholyk church that thou mightest/ vouchsafe to pacify, keep, settogyther & govern it, through the whol● word, with thy servant our Pope. N and our bishop. N, and our King N and so fourth Oh thou varlet worse thenne nought: Dareste/ thou take upon thee, yea with what face darest thou so much as ones think to offer that little morsel of bread, and a Cup wy: +th all little wine for the catholic Church Oh good god how thou art defied here. It were no Wonder to see a man's heart rive asunder too see the Devil Alas the time how he reigneth in the world. In this place truly christ is utterly denied when one shall say here is ready bread and win, and with this we shall help all the whole world as he might say Thush father thou art a fool and thy son also we papists shall now make a lawful sacrifice which thou canst not be against And as for thy son, he may go play him as one of no force nor effect Alas it would make a man too weep that the blood should burst out at his eyes I think verily that the very ry Devil himself made this Canone. For how could, there else be made any greater thing to dishonour God. again, this goodly why pster brings people with him to make an oblation too God. yea and his bread being yet unblessed prayeth for theme He saith also that they be faith full how then be they in danger? If christ have redeemed them, what needest thou then now to pray for their redemption/ Now after this he be, gineth to call upon a great company of. saints. bearing him self in hand, that his morsel of bread is as much too be estemede, as the precious blood of christ where yet he speaketh nothing at all of the Church, living on earth, specially saying there is not so much as one little of the scripture that hath showed us any thing of the Saints departed this life Now it followeth. which oblation vouchsafe thou O God, father almighty. we be seche the to make blessed, appointed ratefyed reasonable & acceptable, that it may be made to us the body▪ and blood of thy dearly beloved soon our lord jesus Chryst. Here at the fourth time the fool's head maketh ablation and useth such word as can not do it Consider ye here the contrary Chryst prayeth for me to the father, that. I wretched sinner. may be acceptable to him And this, shameless butcher, laboureth now to reconcile the ●onne to the father which loveth him most specially and above all. Alas (I say) is not this I pray you extreme abomination, blasphemy and denying of God yes truly is it. even as though the blood of christ were unclean also, and must now be purified by them and committed to the father. Alas this is to much mockage I can in no wise suffer it any longer the hour is come that toucheth my conscience Let all men therefore apply them hereto that this abomination may be taken aways Now, here follow the words of all things most noble and excellent, which also they have all bespotted with their own filthiness. See ye, here, how these triflers have driven in this word/ FOR, and left out the principal part, that is, WHICH IS, given FOR YOWE. Again, they need not the body of christ the was delivered once tor all when they make their sacrifice. They patch to yet also, of their own, the mystery of faith. where it is nothing less than the mystery of faith that they go about, Now, when they have blessed the bread and the wine. etc. yet they offer christ up again and say The canon we offer unto thy Majesty of thy presents and gifts a pure sacrifice a holy sacrifice, and unsported sacrifice the holy bread of eternal life and the Cup of everlasting salvation On which vouchsafe thou to look with a merciful countenance & accept it as thou diddest vouch safe to accept the presèts of thy servant just Abel the sacrifice of our high father Abraham & that which thy high priest melchisedech offered a holy sacrifice an unspotted hofte ❧ ❧ ❧ ❧ ❧ ❧ ❧ ☜ ❧ ❧ ☞. ☞ ❧ ❧ ❧ ❧ ❧ ❧ ❧ ❧ ❧ ❧ ☞ ☞ ☞ ☞ ❧ ❧ What abomination is this, is not this to tread the blood of Chryst under feet when we will desire God to have this as acceptable as Abel's sacrifice was is the blood of Chryst of no more value than to be compared with Abel's oblation what offered Abel's then a young lamb if Abel by the oblation was made righteous, then Chryst died not for him at all. And after this manner, shall a vile and natural sheep, be of more estimation, price and worthyenes then the most precious blood, of our only redeemer christ. O good Lord what a horrible blasphemy is this what Chrystyen heart is. able to abid thes things so miserable and all together full of deceit and damnation. Now I appeal you lords and Rulers I beseech you at the last yet turn hither your eyes. The fathers of the old Testament. wear as well saved by the passion of Chryst, as we be as witnesseth Paul. Therefore they be false lies which these men bear in their checks. For in the other place here before they say it is a pure oblation and unspotted and here now they pray to God to take it as acceptable as he did Abel's sacrifice. even as thought christ were iuferyour to Abel, where as he ought to believe that, christ reconciled to the father, both Abel and all Gods elect. With what face then O filthy wormsacke wilt thou purify Christ to the father, I think that if God should rain down abundance of fire, all should be to little too punish and purge this abominable blaspheny of these wredched papists, by whom Chryst is crucified in these days. M. sodry & divers ways and is put to death again Oh this most detestable Idolatry of these wicked popish masses, can be purged by no kind of purgation. but by the eternal fire of Hell. Oh let him sape that may. For sense the world was first cerated were there never greater blasshemies among all Heathen, then is in this Canon, For both in breadth & length they exced Hieroboans' Calnes, which though the king had them in honour yet put they away all other idolatry, But the Calves, represented an outward show of Godly service, as do in our days Idolaters and the cursed ꝓapystes. It followeth The cannon. O almighty God command these things to be borne up by the hands of thy Angel unto thy Altar above in the sight of thy holy majesty. ☞ Se here for God's sake how the Ass playeth the fool here. Now he goeth about to offer christ to the father by an Angel which is utterly against the word of God, as that Psamograph saith. For the ●ather hath made, him many hundreth years a gone, to sit at his right hand. But this brainless fellow. Imagineth that God hath such an Altar in heaven, as he saith mass upon and so breaketh upon Chris●es office, which is the only true Priest yea, he beareth himself so importunely, & goeth about too offer christ, as though he had not offered himself all ready. If the heathen should thus of rashness. Use their sacrifice too Hilarius, or Anchus the abhominatione of it would seem abominable enough, too be punished with the everlasting fire. Out upon this blindness out upon it, And now he goeth down to them that be dead and like a hare brain entereth to the judgement of God and taketh charge over the dead which thing the holy ghost hath forbidden by the holy scripture, and would that we should inquite nothing of them And yet here the Ass is more frantic than ever he was Here he saith that they rest with God. and yet he desireth God, to give them part of the seat of rest and peace. It followeth. The canon. And give also to us thy servants some part & fellowshype with thy holy Apostes & Matris ☞ Now behold how he is here ravyeshed with blind devotion, and knocketh his Popish heart and calleth upon a great number of Saints, and in the mean wile he turneth both god and Christ to pasture in the field of forgetfulness/ and hath no need at all of Chryst neither yet believeth that Chryst hath already purchased heaven for him. And in this he vetterlye denieth despiseth & forsaketh christ/ as though he had not given heaven freely And because those dull-headed and madbrayned papists be nothing movede at this therefore they often times lay forth the works, merits & desetes of Saints, as though they were of more value than the precious death of our only saviour jesus christ. And here may ye see and behold the madness of these massmongers. The Grayfrers gave a great some of money, to the pisshop of Rome that they might put in their Idol saint Frances among these that be here numbered, O the ambitious covetting of honour desirous to many. For here should sooner devils be regrested, than any Saints, Furthermore, when the bread is consecrated/ then eateth he up all himself alone and giveth no man part of it. but putteth a piece of it into the chalice as hought the blood of christ must then be purified by that piece or else the blood must purify the bread/ by mingling them together, All this is but tryffling, and hath nogrund of the scripture. It followeth in the Canon The canon. Lord have no regard to my sins but to the faith of the congregation, Of this the blind mass-mongers took their blodenes to insure themselves, & wallow at th'altar as do the swine at the trough▪ and go about to desire a private faith to them selves in their hearts, and at the last thus he concludeth. The Canon Let the observance of my service please the. O holy trinity and grant that this sacrifice etc. See I pray you how mad this sacrifice monger is become He goeth on still to commend christ to the father. Now I beseech you all and charge you in god's behalf to try this abbomination, and look naroulye on two, and spread it abroad, if it be possible through all the world, that the shame of that filthy whore of Babylon, may be all uncovered. And pray ye to God, that he vouchsafe too set his almighty word at liberty, which/ Alas the while/ is wholly and all together hidden and kept back from us & hath also been hyddred from our forefathers, these many hundreth years and all by the most detestable abomination of these sacrifice mongers and christ murtheres which thus cruelly murder & crucify Christ. Furthermore I say, that all houses of Stews which God hath most earnestly forbid with robberoes, murders thefts. etc. are not so hurtful. as is this abomination of popish masses. To conclude, I beseech all Princes, Rulers, officers and judges, deeply to try with themselves, and examine this horrible blasphemy against God. and if God suffer you to punish any seditious ribald. that openly taketh a way the honour of the Maygestye of God why should ye not as well, and moche sooner root out and purge this so abominable and Antichrystian blasphemy against God from among you. Lest the horrible wrath of GOD. as of a fitye kill shuldo be provoked against your negligence. and be avenged as well upon you as upon these idolatrous priests love your god and set you forth his glory for to the purpose ye bear the sword, and have authority If ye this do, he shall be your Prince and Captain and shall defend you thought all the devils in hell were against you yea he shallbe your mighty Champion against death itself.
