Sir sowedest not thou good seed in thy close/ from whence then hath it tars/ he said to them the envious man hath done this. Then the servances said unto him. Uvylt thou then that we go & gather them & he said nay/ lest while ye go about to weed out the tars/ ye pluck up also with them the wheat by the roots let both grow together till harvest command in time of harvest/ I will say unto my reapers/ gather ye first the tars/ and bind them in sheves/ to be brent/ but gather the wheat in to my barn. ¶ The Pystel on the Sunday after wedding goeth out called Septuage. At that day shall ye ask in my name/ & I say not unto you that I speak unto my father for you. For the father him self loveth you/ because ye have loved me/ & have believed that I came out from god. I went out from the father and came in to the world. I leave the world again/ & him: behold now speakest thou plainly/ and thou usest no proverbs. A Mediator is not a Mediator of one/ but god is one/ is the law then against the promise of god? God forbid howbeit if there had been a law given/ which could have given life/ then no doubt rightwiseness should have come by the law/ but the scripture concludeth all things under sin that the promise by the faith of jesus Chryst should be given unto them that believe. ¶ The Gospel on the. xiii. His remembrance shall not go away/ and his name shall be required from generation/ in to generation. ¶ The Gospel on the translation of saint Edward the King & confessor the. xi. Chapter of Luke. E. IEsussayd unto his disciples. No man lighteth a candle/ & putteth it in a privy place/ neither under a bushel/ but on a candelstyhe that they that come in/ may see light. The light of thy body is thine eye. Therefore when thine eye is single/ then is all thy body full of light/ but if thine eye be evil/ then shall all thy body be full of darkness. Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee/ be not darkness/ for if all thy body shall be light having no part dark/ them shall all be full of light/ even as when a candle doth light the with his brightness. ¶ The Pystel on saint Luke the evangelists day. Go your ways/ behold I inend you forth as Lambs among wolves. Bear no wallet neither scrip/ nor shoes & salute no man by the way In whatsoever house ye enter in first say/ peace be to this house. And if the son of peace be there your peace shall rest on him/ if not it shall return to you again & in the same house tarry still eating & drinking such as they have/ for the labourer is worthy of him srewarde. ¶ The Pystel on The. xi. thousand Uyrgyns day. O How fair is a chaste/ generation with charity/ the memory of it is immortal/ for it is known to god & man/ & when it is pnsent/ they follow it: & desire it/ when it leadeth them/ & it triumpheth crounned everlastingly/ over coming of battles undefiled/ a great multitude of wicked men shall not be profitable & evil plants shall not bring forth highest trees/ neither shall set a sure ground/ & if they spring in time in bows/ they shall be unsure put/ they shall be moved with the wind/ & shall be plucked up with the vehemency of the wind/ the unpar fyte bows shall be broken/ & the fruyten of them shall be unprofitable & bitter to eat/ & profitable to nothing/ & all the children which shall be borne to wicked men: are witness of wickedness against their parents in their iterrogacyon the just man shall be in rest/ if he be occupied with death ¶ The Gospel on the. xi. thousand Uyrgyns day. The xxv. Chapter of Mathewe. A. jesus said unto his disciples. The kingdom of heaven is likened to. x. virgins/ which took their lamps & went to meet the bridegroom/ & five of them were foolish/ & five were wise. the fools took their lamps but took none oil with them/ but the wise took oil with them in their vessels with their lamps also. while the brydgrone tarried/ all slombred & slept/ & even at midnight there was a cry made/ behold the bridegroom cometh. Go & meet him. Then all those urgyns arose & prepared their lamps And the foolish said unto the wife give us of your oyl● for our lamps go out/ but the wise answered saying/ not so lest there be not enough for us & you/ but go rather to them that sell/ & buy for yourselves in conclusion while they wet to buy: the bridegroom came/ & they that were ready went in with him to the wedding/ and the gate was shut up. After wards came also the other virgins saying. Master/ master/ open to us/ but he answered and said. Ue rely. I say unto you I know you not/ look that you watch therefore/ for ye know neither the day nor yet the hour/ when the son of man shall come. ¶ The Pystel on Simon and judes day. The. viii. Chapter to the romans. E brethren we know well that all things works for the best unto them that loveth god which also are called of purpose for those which he knew before/ he also ordained before that they should be like fassyoned unto the shape of his son/ that he might be the first begotten son among many brethren. Moreover which he appointed before/ them also he called/ & which he called them/ also he justified/ which he justified/ them he also glorified. what shall we then say unto these things/ if god be on our side/ who can be against us/ which spared not his own son but gave him for us all/ how shall he not with him give us all things also. Uuho shall lay any thing to the charge of gods chosen? It is god that justifieth/ who then shall condemn It is Chryst which is deed/ ye rather which is risen again which is also on the right hand of god/ land maketh intercession for us/ Uuho shall sperate us from gods love. Shall tribulation? or anguish/ or persecution/ other hungers? other nakedness? other apparel other sword: as it is written/ for thy sake are we killed all day long & are counted as sheep appointed to be slain. Nevertheless in all these things we overcome/ strongly thorough his help that loved us ye and I am sure that neither death neither life/ nor Angel/ nor rule/ neither power/ neither things present/ nor things to come/ neither heeth/ neither lowth/ neither any other creature shall be able to depart us from gods love/ which is in Christ jesus our Lord. ¶ The Gospel on Simon and judes day the. xv. Chapter of johan. C. Jesus said unto his disciples. This I command you that ye love together/ if the world hate you/ ye know that it hated me before it hated you/ if ye were of the world/ the world would love you/ his own because ye are not of the world but I have chosen you out of the world/ therefore hateth you the world. Remember my saying that I said unto you/ the servant is not greater than his lord/ if they have persecuted me/ so will they persecute you/ if they have kept my saying/ so will they keep yours/ but all these things will they do unto you/ for my names sake because they have not known him that sent me. if I had not come & spoken unto them/ they should have had sin/ but now have they nothing to cloak their sin/ with all. He that hateth me/ haeth my father if I had not done works amongeth which none other manded/ they had natte seen but now have they seen/ & yet have hared both me and my father/ even that the saying might be fulfilled that is written in their law They hated me without a cause. ¶ The epistle on the all hallows day. Do ye not understand that he which coupled himself with an harlot/ is become one body/ for two (sayeth he) shall be one flesh/ but he that is joined unto the lord/ is one spirit i'll fornication. All sins that a man doth/ be without the body but he that is a fornicator/ sinneth against his own body.
