By the king and the queen WHERE AS THE queens majesty at the overture and beginning of the warres with france, did by her hyghenes proclamation, warn her loving subiectes to forbear all traffic, and contracting with any of the french nation, during the said warres: For asmuch as her hyghenes is given to understand that( the former proclamations notwithstanding) diverse and sundry of her subiectes do nevertheless by indirect means bring into this realm, sundry kinds of merchandise, cummynge from the country of the enemy, and namely wines: her majesty therefore by this her present proclamation, straightly chargeth and commandeth, that from the .xx. day of april next ensuing, no wines grown or made within the french kings dominions, other then such wines as shall be taken from the enemy as lawful covetise, be brought in to this realm, without her highness special licence, upon pain of loss and forfeiture to her highnes use of the said wines so brought in. and imprisonment, and fines of the owners of such wines at her highness pleasure. And where her highness doth further understand, that diuers quantities of wines aforesaid, are already brought into sundry ports and havens of this realm, her majesty doth also straightly charge and command, that the parties which haue brought in or caused to be brought in the said wines, do not in any wise vent, or put the same to sale, unless the same haue ben taken from the enemy, as lawful covetise, before they shall haue understanden her highnes further order concerning the same, vpon like pain & forfeiture to her highnes use, as afore.
