C. scholars & pure men with meat & drink which do dayli pre for the queens highnes & her Counsseal & al other Officers and subiects B●yfactors brythern & sustern and the other hospital is for Lame and impotent people that miscarye in the Quens wars or other throw syckens or desesyed. There they shall haue sucoure & Realyfe. And those scholars and poor people aforesaid do pray vpon ther knife tweys every day for the queens estate and the Realeme of england. &c. Understande you our Officers and subiectes, that we having parfect knowledge by the information of credible and also worshipful men, that the forsaed hosiptals is not sufficiently endowed with lands, tenements rents, or other revenues to the sustentation and maintenance or releyfe of the poor and impotent men, the grammar schools in the said hospitals, the scholars found in Oryall College within the vneuersite of oxford nor for the reparations of the Churches and there mansion houses. We moved partelye by the hum●le suplication of the maisters and the rest of the said hospitals? And chiefly for the intere affection we bare toward the continuacion of the sam good deeds, trusting that you our well-beloved subiectes will the rather by our example do the like. We haue granted and gyuene unto the said hospitales full aucthortie and fre liberty under our broad sa●le of england, to send foth their trusty and well-beloved proctor robert ap Thomas ap E●anes and his deputes, he special and general in all walls & the marches of the samme, as well in places exempt as not exempt there to ask gather and believe of the devout people there charitable alms, and other there gifts and bequeste toward the saed poor men the studyentes at oxford, and the scoleres of the grammar school, being comunly to the number of towe hungereth. We do will and desire you Beshopes parsons vicars and Curates and all other ecclesiastical persons, when soever the said proctor or his deputy shall come unto you. You gentilye and favourably receive him and his deputy into your churches or chapeles and there openly to declare and expound his priuelege permitting and suffering hyme freely to ask, gather, recyue and carry away the charitable gifts & bequestes of good people. moreover we requere and desire you all Iustices of peace, Mayres, Sheryffes bailiffs, Constables, Churchewardynes and other officers, to aid, help, assist, defend and maintain the saed proctore and his assigns. And that the said constables or churchwardens do help the said proctor or his deputy to colecte and gathere the charity of the good and loving people.
