¶ By the queen. WHereas the queens majesty our sovereign Lady by reason of the plague and pestilence in the city of London, did lately by her proclamation adjourn part of the term of S. Michael, that is to say, from the utas thereof unto Crastino animarum, then to haue begun at the city of Westminster, as at the place accustomend: Her majesty had very great hope that the said sickness through the favour of almighty God, and by the colonesse of the year, and other occasions by that time would haue ceased, nevertheless her highnesse is credibly informed that the said sickness yet continueth within her said city of London, for the which her majesty is right heartily sorry. Her highnesse is therefore forced as well for the preservation of her other good subiects of all degrees, that should repair to London by reason of the term, as also for many other great considerations to adjourn the rest of the said term. That is to say, from Crastino animarum aforesaid, until the Octabis of S. hilary next coming, then to begin at Westminster as hath ben accustomend. Which her majesty signifieth to all and singular her loving subiects of this her realm, to thintent that they and every of them which hath cause or commandement to appear in any of her highnesse courts at Westminster, in or at any day or time from and after the said Crastino animarum, may tarry at their dwellings, or where their business otherwise shall lie, without resorting to any of the said courts for that cause, before the Octabis of S. hilary next coming, and that without danger of forfeiture, penalty, or contempt to incur towards her highnesse in that behalf. And nevertheless her majesties pleasure is, that two of her Iustices, that is to say, of either bench one, shal the said Crastino animarum according to the ancient order, adjourn her said two courts at Westminster, at which day writtes of adjournment shalbe directed to the said Iustices, to adjourn the same in and from the said Crastino animarum, until the Octabis of S. hilary as before is said. And her majesties pleasure is, that all matters, causes, and suits, depending in any of her other courts between party and party, as in her highnes courts of chancery, star chamber, and Exchequer, Courts of wards and liveries, and duchy of Lancaster, shall haue continuance, and the parties shall haue day from the date of these presents, until the Octabis of S. hilary as before is said. provided always, and her majesties pleasure and commandment is, that all collectors, receivers, Sheriffes, and other accomptantes, and all other persons that ought or should account or pay any some or sums of money in any of her majesties court of Exchequer, courts of wards and liveries or of her duchy of Lancaster, or in any of them, or that should enter into any account in any of the same courts, shall at their dayes appointed repair unto the accustomend places at Westminster, where her highness hath appointed such officers and ministers as for that purpose her majesty hath thought expedient: and there to pay and do in every behalf, as though no such Proclamation of adjournment had ben had or made: Any thing mentioned in this present Proclamation, or in any writ of adjournment to the contrary notwithstanding. And her highnesse further pleasure and commandement is, that all sheriffs shall return their writtes and process against all such accomptauntes and debtors at the dayes therein appointed: and if any person or persons, who ought to account or pay any somme or sums of money to her majesty in any the Courts and places aforesaid, do make default therein: that then her highnesse writtes and process shalbe awarded and sent forth against every such person and persons, and the same be duly and orderly served, and returned by the sheriffs and officers thereunto appoynted, in such like maner and form, as the same should haue ben, if this present Proclamation had not ben made. And if any sheriff or other officer shall make default, or be negligent in serving, executing, and returning of any the writtes and process aforesaid, that then every such sheriff and other officer, shall incur such pains and penalties, as by the said courts, or any of them shalbe taxed and assessed. willing and commanding all and every of her majesties sheriffs, officers, and ministers, and subiects, to whom it doth or shall appertain, to observe and keep their assemblies and appearances, with all their returns and certificates in her highnesse said courts at Westminster in the Octabis of S. hilary next coming, then and there with the favour of God to be holden and kept, and their to do their offices and duties in every behalf, in like maner and form, as they should or ought to haue done if this present Proclamation had not ben had or made, as they will answer to the contrary at their perils. given at her majesties castle of Windsor the xxiii. day of October, in the eleventh year of her majesties reign. God save the queen. ¶ Imprinted at London in Powles churchyard, by Richard jug, and John Cawood, Printers to the queens majesty. Cum privilegio Regiae Maiestatis.
