WHereas diuers traitorous and slanderous Libels haue of late been dispersed in diuers parts of our city of London, and places near thereunto adjoining, by some lewd and ungodly persons, tending to the slander of our Royal person and State, and stirring up of rebellion and sedition within this our realm: And to the end such wicked persons may be discovered and known: These shalbe to signify to all maner of person and persons, That whosoever shall in any fort, either openly or secretly, discover and make known to any of the lords or others of our privy counsel, or to the Lord Maior of our said city, the name of any of the Authors, writers, or dispersers of any of the said Libels, whereby the offenders therein may be known and taken, shall presently haue and receive for their pains therein, the sum of one hundred pounds of currant money payed and delivered unto him by the Lord Mains of our said city. given at our Palace of Whitehall at Westminster the fifth of April 1601.
