THE King, our Sovereign Lord CHARLES, by the Grace of God, King of Great Britain, France and Ireland, Defendor of the Faith, etc. doth give to understand to all his most loving, faithful and obdient Subjects, and to every of them, That, whereas it hath pleased Almighty God, on Sunday, the seven and twentieth day of this month of March, to call unto his infinite mercy, the most excellent High and mighty Prince, King james, of most noble and blessed memory, his Majesty's most dear, and most entirely beloved father, whereby the King's Majesty, now being his only son and undoubted Heir, is invested and established in the Crown Imperial of this Realm, and all other his Majesty's Realms, Dominions, and Countries, will all Regalities, preeminences, styles, names, titles, and dignities to the same belonging, or in any wise appertaining: The same our Sovereign Lord doth signify unto all His most loving, faithful, and obedient Subjects, that, like as his Majesty for his part, shall by God's grace show himself a most gracious and benign Sovereign Lord to all his good Subjects, in all their just and lawful suits and causes: So his Majesty mistrusteth not but they, and every of them, will again on their parts, at all times, and in all cases show themselves unto his Majesty, their natural liege Lord, most loving, faithful, and obedient Subjects, according to their most bounden duties and allegiances, whereby they shall please Almighty God, and do that which shall tend to their own preservations and safeties; Willing and commanding all persons of all estates, degrees and conditions, to see his peace duly kept, and to be obedient to his Laws, as they tender his Majesty's gracious favour, and will answer for the contrary at their uttermost perils.
