C R DIEV ET MON DROIT HONI SOIT QVI MAL Y PENSE royal blazon or coat of arms ❧ By the King. ❧ A Proclamation for the well ordering of His Majesty's Court and Train, as well in His present journey intended towards His Kingdom of Scotland, and return from thence, as in all other His Majesty's journeys and Progresses hereafter. THe King's most Excellent Majesty having taken into his Princely consideration some inconveniences which may fall out, and happen in His intended journey to wards His Kingdom of Scotland, if present care be not had to prevent the same: Hath thought fit by advice of His Privy Council, to publish and declare by this Proclamation; That His Royal pleasure and commandment is, that none of His Subjects, of what degree or quality soever they be, during the time of His Majesty's going, and returning in the said journey, shall presume within the Verge of His Majesty's Court, to take up, or possess themselves of any Lodgings, of their own private authority, but shall first receive a Billet for the same from His Majesty's Harbingers, or some of them. And His Majesty being graciously, and providently careful to prevent such grievances, which may in this journey happen to His loving Subjects, doth likewise hereby straightly charge and command, that none of His Majesty's Servants, nor the servants of any Nobleman, or others whatsoever, shall in the said journey, presume to take any Cart or Carts, but such as shall be delivered unto him or them, by someone of His Majesty's Carttakers, or their Deputies. And lastly, His Majesty's further will and pleasure is, That this His Royal Proclamation, and the directions hereby given and commanded, shall likewise continue, and remain in force for His Majesty's service, and the good of His Subjects, in all other His Majesty's future journeys, and Proycesses whatsoever. The due observing whereof, His Majesty expecteth from all His loving Subjects, as they tender His pleasure, and will avoid the contrary at their perils.
