TWO FAMOUS Prophesies and Predictions OF Mr. William lily, THE Most Judicious and Learned Astrologer of the Age: TAKEN From his Secret Writings, Penned by him in 1644. The former of which, exactly pointing at the Times, by Foretelling the Mischief, Danger and Misery these, and other Protestant Kingdoms should be exposed to, by the Crafty Counsels and Treacheries of the Romish Priests, and by what means their Deliverance should be wrought. The second, Intimating the Decay and ruin of a Great Family, &c. To which is added, a prophesy of Ambrose merlin, of above 1000 years standing. SInce Time is generally accounted the Mother of Truth, we may well conclude, That many weighty Matters have frequently lain in Obscurity, and altogether unregarded, till their Effects have manifested them to the World. And this has been more singularly apparent, as well by the prophesies in Sacred Writ, as by the Foresight and Predictions of the Learned and Judicious, tho not peradventure inspired with so large a Spirit of Divination, which in all Ages have been taken Notice of, and registered in the Histories and Records of the more curious Observers of Times and Seasons in the Events of such Predictions, many of which at certain Periods, have exactly come to pass; and amongst others, especially of the Modern, there have been none more worthy of Observation, or requiring a stricter Scrutiny, than those of Mr. WILLIAM lily, the Merlin of his Time, and Famous Astrologer: One of which more peculiarly, as we conceive, pointing at the present Times, we thought not amiss to communicate to the Reader; therefore take it in the following Account ve●batim, as it was abstracted from his Curiosities and secret writings penned by him in the Year 1644. THE prophesy. I Conceive that privately, and underhand, by ●yess, Treacheries, feigned and dissembled Treaties, and ambassadors, and by the Policy of the Jesuitical ●action all over Europe, the true Protestant Religion shall be infinitely distressed, and the heavenly Intentions impedited, and all those Countries professing Protestanism, exceedingly molested by so secret and close a Compact of Villains, and False hearted Traytors, lurking in the Bosoms and closerts of Princes, that many will think that Popery and Papism shall return to its old seat in every country, but that it never will in these our Kingdoms: For God will miraculously, by means of some young Prince, or Commonality of People, discover and bring to Light, the closs mystery of all those Plots, that from the Year 1603, until above 50 Years be accomplished, shall involve( at times) all Christendom in most bloody Broils. Thus far as to his first prophesy, pointing at the present Condition of this Disordered Kingdom, too much involved in misery, by the Craft and Insinuation of the Romish Clergy, who, to enrich themselves, and bring about the Designs they evidently have of Re-establishing their erroneous Religion, care not by their violent Counsels, and illegal Practices, to what Hazard, Danger, or ruin they expose the Prince and People; Nor to what Cruelty they proceed, were they not restrained by an overruling Providence in compassing, or designing to compass their wretched purposes. But not to Comment upon that which has been but too apparent to the Eyes of all discerning people, we proceed to a second prophesy, or Prediction of Mr. Lilly's, more dark and occult than the former, submitting it to the judgement of the Reader, and strict Search and Enquiry of those that are curious to prie into the Volumes of Fate: However take the words of this Learned Man, as followeth. WO to a great Family in Europe, that was, is now, but shall not be. It's not Old, it's not Ancient, but like an untimely Birth, it's cut off, and shall not flourish in Branch or Root. Lord God, shall the Number of Fifty, cut off more than Five? Shall less than Ninety, be allotted for Four? Shall the Virgin be Barren, and the lion have no Issue? Shall the Second end in a cipher? And Seven come to be One, and then None? Thus much for this Prediction,( which indeed is very obscure, either as to the Family, or country) being only limited to Europe; but to what part of Europe, we must leave to Conjecturals, as not being capable of determining, the thing being as yet to come: For since the writing of this Prediction, or prophesy, we have not heard that any Family of extraordinary No●e and Grandeur, has been extinguished in Europe; Nor do we, by reason of the Number of 90, therein mentioned, conclude it already come to pass, but rather expecting the Time of its accomplishment. A prophesy of Ambrose Merlyn's, left by him above One thousand Years since. LONDON( says he) should bewail the Loss of Her Twenty Thousand Men, and the River of THAMES should be turned into Blood. This indeed as to the Loss of the People has happened in several Plagues and Contagions, but in no History we find that the River of Thames was ever turned into, or coloured with blood: Nor can it be, but by some extraordinary Slaughter either upon it, or near it, which God in his Mercy prevent, and sand Peace and Unity in our Days, that in the true Faith and Fear of Him, we may live happy the remaining part of our Lives, in spite of those that seek to disturb and undermine, and overthrow the established Religion, Laws, and Protestant Unity of these flourishing Kingdoms. POSTSCRIPT. Five Lines of the prophesy called by Lord Powis's Name, because kept in his Family Sixty Years, saying, — Shal into the Saddle slide, And Furiously to ROME shall Ride. The POPE shall have a Fatal Fall, And never trouble more WHITEHALL, Nor ENGLAND's People more Enthrall. FINIS.
