DIEV ET MON DROIT HONI SOIT QVI MAL Y PENSE royal blazon or coat of arms By the King and Queen, A PROCLAMATION For Apprehending of Colonel JOHN PARKER. MARIE R. WHereas Colonel John Parker being in Custody in the Tower for High Treason, (for which a Bill of Indictment was found against him the last Term) did upon Saturday Night last make his Escape, and doth Abscond himself, Flying from justice; We have therefore thought fit, by the Advice of Our Privy Council to Issue this Our Royal Proclamation And We do hereby Require and Command all Our Loving Subjects whatsoever, to Discover, Take and Apprehend the said Colonel John Parker (being about Forty Years of Age, a Fair Man, somewhat long Visaged, with a sharp Chin, and a high thin Nose, and is a little marked with the Small Pox, his Hair Brown but he generally wears a fair Periwig) his Size is rather less than a middle Stature, he speaks with a Soft Speech and Smiling Countenance, he goes a little Lame, pretended to be by some Wound he received) and being Apprehended, to carry him before the next justice of Peace, or Chief Magistrate of City or Town Corporate, whom We do hereby Require to Commit him to the next Goal, there to remain until he shall be thence delivered by due Course of Law; And We do hereby Require the said justice or Chief Magistrate immediately to give Notice thereof to Us or Our Council; And We do hereby Promise, that whosoever shall Discover and Apprehend the said Colonel John Parker, and bring him before some justice of Peace, shall have and receive the Reward of Four hundred Pounds for so doing; And We do hereby Authorise and Require Our present Commissioners of Our Treasury, and Our High Treasurer and Commissioners for the Treasury for the time being, to make Payment of the said Sum accordingly; And We do hereby Publish and Declare, That if any Person or Persons, after this Our Royal Proclamation, shall directly or indirectly, Conceal, Harbour, Retain, Keep or Maintain the said Colonel John Parker, or shall Contrive or Connive at any means whereby he may Escape from being Taken or Arrested, such Person or Persons shall be Prosecuted which the utmost Severity of Law; And We do hereby Declare, That if any Person or Persons who have been Instrumental in his Escape, or have had any hand in Concealing him, shall Discover and Apprehend the said Colonel John Parker, so that he shall be brought before Our Chief justice of the King's Bench, or some other of the judges of the said Court, or some justice of the Peace, or Chief Magistrate of City or Corporation, such Person or Persons so Instrumental in the said Escape, and Discovering, Apprehending and Bringing in the said Colonel John Parker, shall Have and Receive Our Gracious Pardon for his or their Offence aforesaid: And such Person or Persons as have or do Conceal the said Colonel John Parker, and shall discover and bring him in, as aforesaid, shall not only Have and Receive Our Gracious Pardon for such Offence, but shall also Have and Receive the like Reward of Four hundred Pounds to be paid in manner aforesaid.
