A proclamation devised by the kings highness, with th'advise of his most honourable counsel, for the restraint of shooting in handguns.  
WHere the king our most dread sovereign lord, considerying how expedient it was to have his loving subjects practised and exercised in the feat of shooting of handguns and hagbusshes, as well for the defence of this his highness realm and other his realms and dominions, as for the annoyance of his majesties enemies in time of war and hostility, did by his highness proclamation set forth, by the advise of his majesties counsel, according to the act and statute made at Westminster the xxviii day of April, in the xxxi year of his most gracious reign, give licence and liberty to all his majesties subjects, borne within his grace's dominions, being of the age of xvi years, and upwards, That they and every of them, from and after the said proclamation made, might lawfully shoot in handguns and hagbushes, without incurring any forfeiture loss or danger for the same: any statute thereof made before to the contrary not withstanding, as by the same proclamation more at large doth and may appear. For as much as it hath pleased god to remove from us the plague of war, and to send unto us a right honourable and profitable peace, which (by god's grace) shall continue to his glory, and to the honour and surety of his majesty and his succession, and to the quiet and benefit of this realm: His most royal majesty therefore by this his highness present proclamation, set forth by the advise of his majesties counsel, according to the act above mentioned, doth not only make void the said former proclamation, but also straightly chargeth and commandeth all and singular his majesties subjects, that they or any of them, from the last day of August next coming, shall not shoot in any hand gounnes, hagbusshes, or other guns, nor use or have the same contrary to the tenor form and effect of his gracious law and statute made in the parliament begun at westminster the xvi day of januarie, and continued until the first day of April, in the xxxiii year of his most gracious reign: Except any of his said loving subjects have his grace's licence under his great Seal for the same, or otherwise licensed or authorized by the same statute made the first day of April, in the said xxxiii year of his said most gracious reign, upon the pain of the forfeiture mentioned in the same Statute. Willing and commanding all and singular justices of the peace, Mayres, Shyreffes, bailiffs, Constables, and all other his majesties officers, ministers, and subjects, to have special regard to the dew execution of this proclamation, as they tender his majesties pleasure, and wool answer for the contrary all their perils.
