TWO DECLARATIONS OF THE COMMONS Assembled in PARLIAMENT, The one concerning the Court of WARDS and LIVERIES: The other concerning such as shall Inform the House of any Member that hath taken any Money or other Reward, for any thing depending in the House. Together with an Order concerning such Persons as are come in from the Kings Quarters, before the first of this instant December. Novemb. 1645. A Declaration of the honourable House of Commons, whereby the Master and council of the Court of Wards and Liveries, are required to press the suing out of Liveries, as well as compounding for Wardships, the former Votes against the said Court notwithstanding. THe House being informed, That by reason of a Vote passed in this House the twentieth of September last, that the Court of Wards should be taken away, divers Wardships, Liveries, Primer seisins, and mean Rates, which heretofore fell and happened, are not compounded for, and sued out as they ought to be; For remedy whereof, It is hereby Declared, That all Wardships, Liveries, Primer seisins, and mean Rates, which heretofore have happened and fell, or here after shall fall and happenâ–Ş before the Court of Wards shall be put down by the Parliament, shall be answered for to the Commonwealth: And the Master and Counsel of the said Court are required to proceed effectually in granting and compounding for Wardships, and pressing the suing forth of Liveries of all persons whatsoever from whom they shall be due, and in prosecuting Suits there, Any pretence of privileges or Order to the contrary notwithstanding; And the Master and Counsel are required to grant the Wardships to any that will compound for them, in case those enabled by the Instructions to compound, do not come in within their times. Provided always, that this Declaration, or any thing therein contained, shall not extend to any whose Ancestors being Officers or Souldiers, have been slain or dyed in the service of the Parliament. An Order of the Commons assembled in Parliament, concerning all such persons as have come in from the Kings quarters, before the first of this instant December. ORdered by the Commons assembled in Parliament, That all such persons as have come in from the Kings quarters, being Souldiers of Fortune; and submitted to the Parliament before the First of this instant December; and also those five Colonels & Officers that came in with Captain Pickering from Worcester, taking the Oath in the Ordinance of the Fifth of April, 1645. and the national League and Covenant, shall forthwith depart out of the City of London and Lines of Communication, and give Security to appear when they shall be required, to submit unto all Ordinances of Parliament, not to act or counsel any thing against the Parliament; And not to return to the said city of London, or come within the lines of Communication without leave from this House; and shall thereupon have Passes to go to their own habitations, or to their Friends, within any of the Parliaments quarters being no Garrison, and to reside there: This Security to be given to the Committee of Examinations, who are hereby authorized to take the same. Provided, that if any of them shall return to the said City, or come within the Lines of Communication, without such leave as aforesaid first obtained, then they and every of them shall be taken and proceeded against as Spies. THe House of Commons doth Declare, That it shall be an acceptable service for any person or persons to inform this House, of any Member or Members of this House, that by himself or others directly or indirectly hath taken or received any money or other thing, of any person or persons, for any matter or thing depending in this House, or any Committee of this House, since the beginning of this Parliament: And the House hath appointed a Committee to receive any such Informations, who are to sit in the Exchequer chamber, upon Thursday next in the afternoon, and so from time to time: And the Members of this House are hereby enjoined, if any of them know of any such thing so taken in manner as aforesaid, by any other of the Members, that they do repair to the said Committee, and inform them of the same.
