A peculiar PROGNOSTICATION Astrologically predicted according to Art: Whether, or No, His majesty Shall suffer Death this present year 1649. The possibility thereof discussed and divulged, By William lily, Student in astrology. arms of Charles I C R HONI SOIT QVI MAL Y PENSE Published for general satisfaction. 164●. A peculiar Prognosticrtion Astrologically predictep according to art. SI Saturnus fuerit in Geminis vel ejus triplicitate, significat quod qu●cquid significaverit sieve bonum sit illud significatum sieve maluus, ut plurimum apparebit occidentalibus( saith Bonatus) if Saturne be in geminy or in the ayery triplicity, whether then he signify good or ill, for the most part his significations appear Westward, from hence will arise thus much, that what is materially signified from Saturn, will show itself in the West part of England, as in relation to the whole kingdom; but as to London it points the West parts thereof, and the adj●cent lying from the body of the City; it is very probable the most considerabln actions of this quarter, will significantly manifest themselves in London: Accident hominibus infirmitates de frigido, &c. The people will be subject to Agues and such like infirmities as proceed from could and dry causes; men will be contentious given to lying, from whence it may be feared there will arise some bloodshed, but God may and I hope will divert effusion of blood? So that instead of blood, we may onely quarrel in words or with our pens, for indeed I do not see that war or effusion of blood can positively happen, Tumults and motions, heart-burnings, distemped mutterings and grumblings may appear; my meaning still is, that I do not conceive the City sh●ll receive any prejudice by the soldiery, Deus avertat. We must expect the exile, vanishment, imprisonment or death of some great King or Prince, shedding of blood amongst the common people, and greater persons; we must expect discords, mutual dissimulations: the motions of a great Army, wars murders, firing of houses, thieves plundering, depopulations, miscarriage of women with child, sharp fevers, and universal sickness amongst men, by reason there will be a pestile● air, also an admirable change or mutation in the Common-Wealth; being forewarnd me thinks some might be forearmd, if the Parliament of England and Army invite Prince Charles home, and he refuse( as God forbid he should,) great things will assuredly be put in execution and may prove very fatal to the Prince, and so may produce that excellent mutation spoken of, and it were well advised if such counsel were given to the Duke of York:( Cavere stamma ferro igne) assuredly the great Eclipses this year, those which lately preceded and are subsequent, mutationes institutionum, legum sectarumque, & senecta casus seu mortem senioribus significant, are the messengers of the alterations of former laws and institutions and sects, the death of some old Matron Queen or noble woman, and also of many ancient men. The nobility, the rich and great ones about these times are like to be sick by reason of ill and unwholesome blasts of wind, anglic è the breath of the people, cry for vengeance upon them, and by reason of earthquakes and unsavoury fumosities of the earth, and by reason of war and complaints betwixt the rich man, and the poor man: the hatred of the people begins sooner against their Superiors then otherwise it would, and coutinues more fiercely: many of quality will be committed, authority finding how much they have been cheated and couzned by Members of their own; It is for money, and robbing the Common-Wealth that many have the sentence of condemnation. Absolutely the soldier or sword is rampart this year, or either gives laws or strains hard for it, to settle the kingdom in a very judicious posture, not wronging the civill Magistrate or the just laws of the kingdom, but regulates their exorbitancies; let no mans heart fail, the work of God is going forward. doubtless the material effects of the great Eclipse happening this year, which shall concern England, they will principally be effected in London and Westminster, this I mean as unto the Body politic. Saturnus far t mal cum tarditate, Mars vero subitò, & ideo Mars reputatur deterior Saturno in nocendo; former treasons acted against the King, Parliament and Army, are now strictly enquired after, viz. what Peer or Nobleman joined with the Scots, and brought in that numerous Army of cowards; what Members of the House of Commons had clandestine consultations with the Scots Commissioners in Lincolns inn Fields, and Covent Garden, and it will be enquired what Citizens promised the Scots arms and money, and help away with part of the navy, sent their servants to Colchester against the Lord Fairfax. And who were so busy and active in so of't disturbing the Parliament with peremptory Petitions, now these are found out and receive punishment, who have retarded the Armies pay and money, of purpose to destroy them and cut the throats of all those honest souls, who conscientiously engaged for the kingdoms good, and no intention( I hope) to destroy Monarchy as is falsely suggested, but to regulate it and obtain those just rights we were born unto: the most material thing signified by this Eclipse, is a strict questioning and bringing to severe punishment, English Traytors that for these two yeares last past have disturbed the whole kingdom, enforced the Parliament, &c. Fines and mulcts of money in a large measure are foreseen from hence to be levied out of the estates of Mallefactors, but some of principal quality I fear must follow the example of their fellowes in mischief, and become either heedless or die otherwise, according to the quality of their Oaths and offence: This year emergent occasions will rise in Ireland, and that kingdom doth swell; nor is it evident unto me▪ but that this year, the most noble house of Austria will again be near unto some domestic broils, I mean the Emperor of Germany may greatly distrust some secret plottings to disturb his little quiet, the person of the King of Spain is much subject to receive prejudice by this Eclipse; but thou noble branch of the Austrian house be sure it is the fore-runner of sedition, and some treacherous design against thy happiness; I fear a mutiny of thy Subjects, during the effects of this Eclipse. The industrious Venetian is much concerned in this Eclipse, but alas there is a configuration this year will assuredly prove ominous unto them, yet providence miraculously, even beyond admiration at the time of the action much lessen the will. Worthy men, make peace with the seditious Turk; for indeed I conceive this year Constantinople will be much hindered by the head strong janissaries: and now I mention France, wherein J find as much willingness in the people to rise and follow our steps in England, as ever any were to eat, when pitifully hungry the vial of wrath is preparing for that kingdom. What shall I writ of the wary Scot, whose invasion deceived our judgement the last year, this Eclipse doth demonstrate a second failing in thee or some of HAMILTONS faction do intend further to disturb thy welfare and ours, thou beginnest about these times to totter and shake, by reason of some great hopes thou hast, not from us, but the approach of a great person into thy kingdom, if providence contradict it not; make not thyself the seat of endless war, or the scorn or Nations by reason of treachery: Col. JON●S thou man of honour, now have thou care of our English; it seems some motion of our Armies or straggling Brigadoes appear Southward or Eastward; Lord God, what, honourable things wouldst thou have performed, if supplies had seconded either thy valor or fortune. Every sign is ascending, the times are either disturbed with bloodshed and war, or else with execution of justice upon turbulent spirits; were not our spirits miraculously supported these times, the common people will despair and mistrust Gods providence: we are infinite full of counsel, those grand ones having but untoward intelligence from our friends in Scotland, nor very pleasing news from Ireland, I think this year our divisions would invite all the world to fool us or slight us; many showers will be, and what ever danger was formerly threatened will be much lessened by the meanest position, though retrograde, it is said by some: Erit bellum licet medicum, & tristabitur Rex illius regionis: Some little war or scuffling to no purpose, she signifies, but it produces sorrow to the King of that Region, and who is King of Scotland we all know; she points out the same things to the Committe● of Estates sitting there, England is ours, and we will hold it, nor from this day shall a Scot ever come in our Nation without our consent and love, possess a cottage or a poor farm; providence hath not assigned our earth to any but English, so long as the earth itself and men in it continue. This year there will be much robbing on the dry Land, and great store of piracies upon the Seas; Mars prenotes the ruins or demolishing of very ancient foundations or buildings; dissimulation and fraud amongst the Clergy, stirring up the multitude to sedition and tumults; Da nobis pacem Domine. FINIS.
