THE Papists Petition IN ENGLAND TO Their diabolical Center of Impiety the POPE. Or their glory, in a story, Wherein they sit, and pump for wit. LONDON, Printed for John Hammond. 164●. TO their Right honourable and adored politician the POPE, grand PLVTO his ensign bearer here upon earth, to whose hand we the poor di●tressed catholic Babylonians present our petitionary desires for removal of our grievances Sheweth, THat our present miseries growing intolerably through the stubborn perverseness of the Protestant party in their heretical opinions, to confute whom we confounded ourselves and against whom the devil himself hath no power, his agents here having tried so much of their diabolical experience still proving inutile and to no purpose that they are or will be soon tired without some sudden relief from your holinesse, and your dishonourable counsel, for we are so dry drawn through the misprision of our invention●, that we daily pump for wit and go without it, dress plot●, and prove so bad cooks, that the sauce is so hot we scarce dare lick ●ur own fingers after them: Our fortunes being as pernicious as Demonick Sproovoyse your Holinesses ropem●ker, who studied all his time the art, and the first halter he made ha●ged himself: the times are grown so bad, and the heretics so cunning, that Reynold himself with all his subtlety and the row with all swiftness may be hanged both together, as for example Tyburn hath already claimed both their bodies as due, and Grego●y that caytiffe executioner their outside while the better part is gone to purgatory before us, what hopes have we when we see our primogeniture and first producers of our Religion to fail and fall so before us, Our warriors and chief defendants are taken prisoners, none daring bear arms but such as deny us and our Religion; but oh our distresses, miseries and incomparable sorrows when we but consider the unworthy misusage of our dear friend Canterbury, who of himself would have been a sufficient powdering tubb to have salted the whole sect of Protestants whose industrious vigilancy over them, and sedulous indulgence towards are beyond expression, and exceed all former authouts: there never durst an able Protestant Minister show his face in the pulpit, but he stopped this mouth for fear he should speak blasphemy, and for us in those happy dayes we had almost got the Church-government into our hands, put it is now otherwise. Our friends are fast Our joys are past. O hone, O hone. These are the substance of our humble petitions of which we desire and quotidially expect the release of these our grievances by your holinesse, and we in the mean time shall repeat ten thousand Aue Maries for the prospering of your most demonicall counsels against this kingdom. Your Holinesses Petitioners still praying, &c. The Popes answer to the petition. We have perused your petition presented unto us, where we find sufficient occasion produced of a sympathy and fellow-feeling of our miseries, sorry we are to hear of your disastasters, but much more wonder how they dare contradict our designs: I have thought good to sand an Excommunication against them from our Holinesse, to make them understand what it is to displease our infe●nal power, & as for our true noble friends, and unsanctifyed brethren whom these wicked schisma●cks have put to death, for proceeding in our faith to the enlarging of our demonicall government, we have cut their journey short who leaving Purgatory on the left hand, are gone to the satanical dominions in ambassage for our Holinesse, whose return was suddenly expected to bring his counsel from great daemon king of Acheron and Phlege●hon whose counsel will be perniciously welcome and sufficient to direct us what to plot against your and our enemies: But as for Canterbury our subsequent, or Pope Minimus in England, and all his 12 b●ethren in the royal palace of the Tower, wee have been searching the Magazine of great Pluto, for to invent some way of deliverance, who in respect of their dutiful labours towards him and us, hath promised to take them into his consideration, and by magic art to take them invisibly in a cloud, and sand them by some of hi● agents to the devil, where their entertainment shall be according as they have deserved: Our counsel is, to be ●alliant in your conspiracies, upon the which you ha●e our blessings, Demons assistance, Babells prayers, and continual Sin ▪ offerings upon our Antichristian Altars, for your prosperous proceedings. The Tenor of the Excommunication, se●t by the POPE, against his adversaries in ENGLAND. VRBANVS Authoritate Diobolica totius orb Primas & Metopolitanus dilect nobis in demone, &c. That all those that deny to adhere and join with us in our designs, and have been hindrances hitherto, shall be excommunicated our of the Church, and be denied entrance into our in●ernall kingdom. Subscribed at our palace of babel, in the city of Rome, Decimo die Tridemiter. Anno. Peccandi. 1598. Signum et Sigilum, Vrbanum foul ▪ evil. The Devills counsel to the Pope, for remov●ll of grievances, sustained by his Holinesse. our Right and well-beloved son, Wee in our infernal habitation, understanding of your industrious care and endeavours for the enlarging of our Kingdoms, and the daily misfortunes crossing your designs, and have thought good to add my counsel and assistance, which is this that you not onely Excommunicate the Rebells, but also provide means to cut them off by some damnable plot, by your adherents amongst them, confiscate their pernicious Parliament, destroy and put to the sword the principal men thereof, confounded them in their devices by civill mutinies, and favour them no more, as we have done by missing so faire an opportunity at the Parliament House, and not putting our intended devices in agitation by Powder works raising an army of our faction against them in hostile manner in this kingdom. Let none fear to venture life and limb in this our expedition of service, for in so doing, they shall gain a Saint place in our kingdom, be canonised here upon earth, and their memorial never be blotted out of our demonick memory: Their names shall be inserted in our Chronickle to their everlasting honour; do thou therefore deere son, stir them up to this design, and grant them a dispensation to animate them therein, and in so doing, thou shalt show thyself our loyal Servant, and in the end receive thy just reward in my infernal kingdom. The POPES answer. NOBLE Liege; wee give Laud to you for your counsiliatory endeavours, and will put it speedily in practise; wherewith they withdrew, and partend to consider further. FINIS.
