At Edinburgh, the eighteen day of July, One thousand six hundred eighty nine years. THE Lord High Commissioner, and Lords of His Majesties Privy Council, Considering, that by the express Laws and Acts of Parliament of this Kingdom, it is Declared to be high Treason for the Subjects of this Kingdom, or any number of them, upon any Pretext or Ground whatsoever, to rise or co●tinue in Arms, without His Majecties special Authority and Approbation; and that nevertheless some hundreds of Irish Papists, with some Gentle-men and Scots Officers, Shiped at Craig-fergus, Aboard three Men of War, in order to an Invasion and Descent upon the Isles of this Kingdom, or High lands about Lochaber, to join with the Viscount of Dundee, who, and the Persons underwritten, have associate themselves together against His Majesties Authority and Laws, Protestant Religion, and Government of this Kingdom; viz. Alexander Earl of Dumfermling, 〈◇〉 Lord Dunkeld, David Haliburton of Pitcurr, 〈◇〉 inns of Cockstoun, 〈◇〉 Grant of Ballindalloch, 〈◇〉 Gordon of Achanachie, 〈◇〉 Fullartoun of that Ilk, Captain Alexander Bruce, Alexander Leslie of Bogholm, Lieutenant John Cleland of Faskine, Sir Evan Cameron of Lochʒeall, 〈◇〉 Cameron his eldest Son, 〈◇〉 c of Glengarie, 〈◇〉 c of Keapoch, 〈◇〉 Stuart of Appin, 〈◇〉 Mcdonnald of Glencoe, mayor William Grahame, 〈◇〉 Grahame, Brother to the Viscount of Dundee, James Malcolm, Son to the Laird of Balbedie, the Laird of c, Alexander c, designed Commissar c, and 〈◇〉 c of Lochbuy, the Captain of Clanronnald, William Farquhardson of Inverray, and 〈◇〉 Farquhardson his Brother, 〈◇〉 Kinnaird of Coubin, with several others: Therefore that simplo and unwarry People be not ensnared by the saids Rebels, and their Emissaries, and involved in their Rebellion; and to take off ●ll pretence of Ignorance or Excuse, The Lord High Commissioner, and Lords of His Majesties Privy Council, in His Majesties Name and Authority, Declare the said Association, and Assembling together of the Viscount of Dundee, and Persons foresaids, to be open and manifest Rebellion, and high Treason, and that the Authors and Actors in the same, and all that shall join with them, are, and ought to be Pursued as declared Traitors to His Majesty, and his Authority and Government; And the said Lord High Commissioner, and Lords of Privy Council, Do hereby prohibit and Discharge in Name and Authority soresaid, any person or persons, to Harbour, Reset, Intercommune with, abet, Assist, or Supply any of the saids Rebels, or to keep Correspondence with them, without Warrant from General-Major Mackay, or other Officer Commanding His Majesties Forces in Chief; but on the contrary, that they do their utmost endeavour to Resist, Prosecute, Detect, and apprehended any of the Persons above-named, as desperat and bloody Traitors, or any other that have joined, or shall join in Rebellion with them; And for their further encouragement, the Lord High Commissioner, and Lords of Privy Council, do in His Majesties Name and Authority foresaid, ensure and engage the Sum of Eighteen Thousand marks, Scots Money, to be effectually payed down, and delivered to any person, or persons, who shall apprehended the said John Viscount of Dundee, and shall deliver him dead or alive, to any of His Majesties Commanding-Officers, or magistrates in the place, together with an absolute Indemnity for all Crimes committed before the performance of that Service, and even though the Persons that shall apprehended him, have been in open Rebellion, and Correspondence with him.
