¶ By the King. Royal blazon or coat of arms. ❧ A Proclamation for the Banishing of Giles Mompesson. WHereas Giles Mompesson, late Knight, for great and insufferable crimes by him committed, to the abuse of his majesty, and grievous oppression of his Subiects, hath by the high Court of Parliament been declared to bee Degraded of the Order of Knighthood, and sentenced and adiudged to sustain and bear other punishments, as by the Record of the foresaid Iudgement appeareth: The Kings most Excellent majesty approving in all things the just proceedings and sentence of the same his high Court of Parliament; Which to prevent, the said Mompesson( while the matters were in examination) escaped from his Keeper, and fled, and is not now to be found. nevertheless, His majesty( desiring to assure all his loving Subiects, how hateful and offensive it is to His majesty, that His people should be so injured, molested, vexed or oppressed, and willing by the severity of His Iustice to deter all others from any like attempt or enterprise hereafter) hath resolved( over and besides all the punishments inflicted vpon the said Mompesson, by the Iudgement of Parliament) to add this further punishment, in detestation of his offences, utterly to Banish and expel the said Giles Mompesson out of His realms of England, Scotland, and Ireland, and all other His majesties Dominions, as a person infamous and unworthy to partake of any the comforts of His majesties happy government. And therefore His majesty doth hereby expressly charge and command, that the said Giles Mompesson, if now he be abiding within any of His majesties Dominions, do forthwith, after the publication hereof, depart and withdraw himself out of the same: And that after such his departure, or if he be now in any parts out of His majesties Dominions, that he do not at any time hereafter return into the same or any of them, vpon pain to incur, not onely the severest& uttermost execution of the said Sentence and Iudgement of Parliament, but the forfeiture of whatsoever he may forfeit to His majesty, and of all such further punishment as His majesty in His Kingly power and prerogative may inflict vpon him. given at Our Palace of Westminster the thirtieth of March, in the nineteenth year of Our reign of Great britain, France, and Ireland. God save the King. ❧ Imprinted at London by BONHAM NORTON, and John BILL, Printers to the Kings most Excellent majesty. M.DC.XXI. His majesty( of his blessed disposition for the weal of His Subiects) being careful to stop the current of this growing evil, until vpon mature deliberation, an exact and full remedy may be provided by Parliament in that behalf, Doth hereby signify and declare his most gracious Will and pleasure, and doth expressly charge and command, That all and every judge& Iudges in the said Courts of Equity, where such bills of conformity do depend, for so much of the matter in those several bills contained as concerneth such conformity as aforesaid, and for and concerning all such persons, parties to those Suits, which haue not consented thereunto, shall forthwith, absolutely dismiss the same, and that the said Defendants in such suits be not bound or pressed to any further attendance in that behalf. And that all Orders, Sentences, Decrees, injunctions and other restraints or process whatsoever grounded vpon any such Bill or Suite to the prejudice, hurt or hindrance of any Creditor or Creditors( not having consented as aforesaid) and the execution of the same, be from henceforth fully and wholly suspended, and not to be put in execution until order and provision by some Act of Parliament, for a perpetual reformation thereof bee had and taken in that behalf. And that no Bill or Suite of the effect or nature aforesaid be hereafter received, accepted or allowed in the said Court of Chancery or other Court of Equity, until some such order as aforesaid bee taken in Parliament. And that all and every person and persons now being in prison, or restrained of liberty, or standing vpon Bond, bail or mainprize, by or by reason of any such Order, Sentence, Decree, injunction or other restraint,( and for no other cause) vpon any Bill or svit of the effect or nature aforesaid in any of the said Courts of Equity whatsoever, or by reason of any proceeding thereupon, bee forthwith by the said judge and Iudges of the said Courts of Equity, set at liberty and freed from his and their imprisonment or restraint, and be discharged of his and their Bonds, recognisances, bail or mainprize for appearance, without molestation, vexation or trouble for or by reason of any such Order, Sentence, Decree, injunction, Restraint, Bond, recognisance, bail or mainprize until such furtherorder be taken in Parliament as aforesaid. And therefore His majesty doth authorize and require as well the Lord chancellor of England, as all other His majesties Iudges and Iustices,& other persons whatsoever, having any place of judicature,& all and every His Officers, Ministers and Subiects that now bee or hereafter shal be, to see and cause this His majesties pleasure duly with all convenient expedition to be put in execution. given at Our Palace of Westminster the one and thirtieth day of March, in the nineteenth year of Our reign of Great britain, France and Ireland.
