WHereas Wee haue resolved, by the favour and blessing of GOD, to celebrate the solemnity of Our own royal Coronation, together also with the Coronation of Our most dearly beloved Consort the queen, vpon the second day of february next, being Candlemas day, at our Palace of Westminster: And forasmuch as by the ancient customs and usages of this realm, as also in regard of diuers tenors of sundry Manors, Lands,& other Hereditaments, many of Our loving Subiects do claim, and are bound to do and perform diuers several services on the said day, and at the time of Our Coronation, as in times precedent their Ancestors, and those from whom they claim, haue done and performed at the Coronations of Our famous Progenitors and Predecessors, Kings and queens of this realm: We therefore, out of Our Princely care for the preservation of the lawful Rights and Inheritances of Our loving Subiects whom it may concern, Haue thought fit to give notice of, and publish Our Resolution herein, and do hereby give notice of, and publish the same accordingly. And Wee do hereby further signify, That by Our Commission under Our great seal of ENGLAND, We shall appoint and authorize Our right trusty and right well-beloved Counsellors, Sir Thomas Couentrie Knight, Lord Keeper of Our great seal of England, and james Lord lay, Our high Treasurer of England, Our right trusty and right well-beloved Cousins and Counsellors, Edward earl of Worcester, Keeper of Our privy Seal, Thomas earl of arundel and Surrey, earl Marshall of England, and William earl of pembroke, Lord chamberlain of Our Household, Our right trusty and right well-beloved Cousin, Edward earl of Dorset, and Our trusty and well-beloved, Sir randal Crew Knight, Our chief Iustice for Pleas, to be held before us, or any three, or more of them, to receive, hear, and determine the Petitions and claims, which shall be to them exhibited by any of Our loving Subiects in this behalf; and Wee shall appoint Our said Commissioners for that purpose, to sit in the painted Chamber of Our Palace at Westminster vpon the six and twenty, seven and twenty, and eight and twenty dayes of this instant month of january, in the afternoons of those dayes, for the execution of Our said Commission, Which Wee do thus publish, to the intent that all such persons, whom it may any ways concern, may know when, and where to give their attendance, for exhibiting of their Petitions, and claims concerning their services before mentioned, to be done or performed unto us at Our said Coronation. And Wee do further hereby signify to all, and every of Our Subiects, whom it may concern, That, whereas we haue thought fit( by reason that the late great and grievous Infection of the Plague in Our said city, hath for the most part left the same unfurnished, both of Materials, and of able and experienced workmen, which are necessary to bee employed in an Action of so great State, as is Our proceeding from Our Tower of London through Our said city) to put off and defer Our said proceeding, until the first day of May next; Yet nevertheless, Our will and pleasure is, and We do hereby straitly charge all persons, of what rank or quality soever they be, who either vpon our Letters to them directed, or by reason of their Offices or tenors, or otherwise, are to do any service at the said day or time of Our Coronation, that they do duly give their attendance accordingly in all respects furnished and appointed, as to so great a solemnity appertaineth, and answerable to the dignities and places which every one of them respectively holdeth and enjoyeth: And of this they, or any of them are not to fail, as they will answer the contrary at their peril, unless vpon special reasons by ourself, under Our own hand to bee allowed, Wee shall dispense with any of their services or Attendances. given at Our Court at White-Hall, the seventeenth day of january, in the first year of Our reign of Great britain, France and Ireland.
