royal blazon or coat of arms C R HONI SOIT QVI MAL Y PENSE dieu ET MON DROIT ¶ By the King. ¶ A Proclamation declaring His majesties royal grace, and pleasure, to confirm to His Subiects their defective Titles, Estates, and Possessions,( as well by colour of former Grants, as without any Grant from the crown) by His Commission granted to that purpose. THe Kings most Excellent majesty taking notice of the Act of Parliament made in the one and twentieth year of the reign of His dear and royal Father, King james( of blessed memory, lately deceased) entitled, An Act for the general quiet of the Subiects against all pretences of Concealments; By which Act the Subiects were, and are settled in the possessions of, and in those manours, and Lands, which they and their Ancestors had enjoyed by the space of threescore yeeres next before the said act, other then such Lands, Liberties, and other Hereditaments in the said Act excepted, as by the said Act appeareth; The which was a grace and favour, that none of his predecessors yielded unto in former times: In respect whereof, His majesty might now in Iustice, and reason, reduce to the crown all such other manours and Lands whereunto His Highnesse hath Right and Title, and which were not settled by the said Act, to the increase of His revenue; And the rather for that both His majesties said dear Father, and himself, haue extended their grace to all such whom it might concern, vpon easy compositions, to prevent their own dangers, and yet the same hath been neglected. nevertheless, His majesty having nothing more in His Princely desire, then the general good of His Subiects, preferring their peace and quiet before His own benefit, is now graciously pleased once more to renew His said Commission to sundry of the Lords, and others of His privy counsel, and others of His Iudges and counsel learned, authorizing them thereby to treat and compound on His majesties behalf, for the selling, granting, and confirming to such of His Subiects( whom it may concern) as well their defective Titles, Estates and Possessions, in such manours and Lands, which they now pretend to hold, under colour of any defective, void, or insufficient grants, or by Letters Patents of concealments. As for those manours and Lands which they possess, and enjoy merely by Intrusion, and usurpation, without any colour of Right, and Title, they having had no grants thereof at all, either from his majesty, or any of his predecessors, and yet not settled by the aforesaid act: His majesty expecting, that they will not now neglect this His grace offered, which if they shall do, they must neither look for further favour from him, nor blame any but their own negligences. And, that no man may pretend ignorance, how far this grace extendeth, His majesty hath hereunto annexed an abstract of the said Commission, whereby each one( whom it concerneth) may take knowledge for what, and how he may bee relieved, if in time, and by a due course he shall seek the same. And his majesty doth further declare his royal pleasure to bee, that all persons( whom it may concern) by this public declaration of this His gracious pleasure, either voluntarily of themselves, or vpon Letters to bee to them directed from His majesties Commissioners, with a draft of the particular cases, fail not at their perils to attend the said Commissioners, for such moderate and reasonable Compositions, as shall bee found fit, and equal for them. And His majesty, the better to bee informed who embraceth this His royal grace, and who neglecteth the same, Hath appointed and commanded Robert Typper, of Grayes inn, His majesties seruant, to attend his majesties Commissioners, as in former times he hath done, who is to acquaint his majesties said Commissioners with the State of the several Cases, of those that shall seek a Composition, as aforesaid; And who do accept this his majesties grace, and who not, whereupon such further proceedings may be had for the maintaining of his majesties Right, and Title, and increasing of his revenue, as shall bee just. given at Our Court at White-Hall this sixth day of December, in the fourth year of Our reign of Great britain, France and Ireland. God save the King. ¶ Imprinted at London by Bonham Norton and John Bill, Printers to the Kings most Excellent majesty. M.DC.XXVIII.
