THe Kings majesty having taken into consideration the great quantity of moneys exhausted from His Subiects, and exported out of His Dominions into foreign parts, for counterfeit jewels, Pearls, Pendants, chains, and false Stones, carrying onely a show and semblance of Precious stones, pearls and jewels, is resolved to provide for reformation thereof in time to come; And therefore as well to restrain the consumption of the Treasure of the Kingdom expended that way, as the damage that redounds to His Subiects by such falsified& counterfeit stuff; Doth hereby( with the advice of his privy council declare and publish His royal will and pleasure to be, and doth straitly charge and command, That from henceforth, no person or persons, of that estate, degree or quality soever do presume to wear or use upon their persons or apparel, or buy, sell, exchange or utter any counterfeit jewels, Pearls, Pendants, chains, or false stones ●… hatsoeuer within any of His majesties Dominions, Vpon pain as well of the forfeiture and ●… se of the same, as also of incurring His majesties high displeasure, and such pains and ●… alties as may be inflicted for the contempt of his majesties royal commands herein, where●… he is minded to require a strict account. And for the due accomplishment of his majesties pleasure herein, He doth further charge and ●… manned all Iustices of Peace, Maiors, bailiffs, Constables,& other His Officers, Ministers ●… d Subiects to be aiding& assisting in their several places, whereby such as shall hereafter wil●… ly offend in the premises, may be brought and presented to His majesties privy council, ●… d thereupon may be proceeded against, according to the demerits of the offenders. given at Our Court at Whitehall, the eighteen day of april, in the twelfth year of Our reign.
