royal blazon or coat of arms C R HONI SOIT QVI MAL Y PENSE dieu ET MON DROIT ❧ By the King. ¶ A Proclamation for the putting off Tutbury Faire in the County of Stafford, and of the musicans or Ministrels Court there. THe Kings most Excellent majesty, having appointed to be at His Honor of Tutbury vpon the fifteenth day of August next, where he intends to abide five nights, and being informed that the Faire for the town of Tutbury near to the Castle there, is to be holden vpon the same day,& that the musicans or Minstrels Court, and the Bull-Running is usually there kept the next day following, which will occasion great confluence of people thither, Which in these times of Infection, His majesty, for the safety of His royal Person, and of those that attend Him, and in His Princely care, to prevent by all good means the occasions of danger and dispersion of the Plague, is pleased to declare His royal pleasure therein; And doth therefore hereby expressly charge and command, That Tutbury Faire, in the County of Stafford, which is usually holden on the fifteenth day of August, shall not for this present year be holden on that day, but shall be put off until the two and twentieth day of the same month, and then to bee kept at the place accustomend, and not before that time, and that the musicans or Minstrels Court, and the Bull-Running shall not be there holden until the three and twentieth day of August next coming, notwithstanding any Grant, usage, or custom whatsoever, vpon pain of His majesties high displeasure, and such further punishments as an Offence of this nature shall deserve. Wherefore His majesty doth straitly charge and command all musicans and Minstrels, and all other persons whatsoever, who haue not special occasion of service or attendance vpon His majesty there, That they forbear to resort to the said Castle or town of Turbury, during all the time of His majesties residence there; And that all Iustices of Peace, Sheriffes, bailiffs, and other His majesties Officers and Ministers whom it may concern, do take care to the due execution of His royal commands herein, as they will answer the contrary at their perils. given at Our Honor of Windesor, the eighteen day of july, in the twelfth year of Our reign.
