Our holy ffader pope lo that noie is considering that where ii brethren iohnn Busset& Richard Busset mnchaintz; of 〈◇〉 in tym of conveying of there merchandise by the see to the city of valentyne with dyvers other Cristten people being in thereship after A long Contritacion̄& fyght̄ or battle with man slaughter by A day& a night against the marinirs& the in fideles wre taken̄ by the said mariners Also Our holy ffadr Considering that the said iohnn& Richard by the Reason of that captivity were conueyd& addued to the {per}iles of the infidels to thee ● terabull servitute& also considering that where ā the said mariners by cause that they might exact and extorte sum somen of money of them did put the said iohnn& Richard to cruel tortures& turments by reason of the which the said iohnn&¶ Richard so that they might be relased of so great pains for fear of the said torturus& turmens did {pro}myse unto the said mariners the som̄ of viiii¶ Hundred ducat of gold for there releaxation̄& redemption̄ Also where as the said Iohn Busset finding sufficient surety was delivered& released under this effect& condition that he should gather the alms of Cristen people& to pay the forsiad som̄ of viii hundred ducatis And because the said iohnn& Richard by reason of the foresaid spoiling& robbing& loss of there goods be made so power that they be not sufficient to pay the foresaid som̄ with out the cheritable help of cristen people And also by Cause the said Ihon̄ syns the time of his dely●●aunce ounder the condicon̄ above said hath ben vexed with many Infyrmyties& sickness and also at the time of these ●rimntes was vexed there for Our holy ffader the pope seeing himself only not to be sufficient to Releve all such poure& oppressed people convytyng the said iohnn& Richard to be relieved& realeased from there captivity and that Cristen people should be more redyer to put there helping hands for therer redemption of the said {per}sones in that the shall see theym self plentifully to be refressyd with the gyste of the hevenly grace trusting of the mercy of almighty god& the authority of saint peter& paul and like wise by his own authority to eūy Crestyn man& woman gevyng of their goods truly gotten As often as they shall do It their Cheritable alms for the releasyng& there imncion of the said Iohn& Richard being in captivity hath released vii yeres& as many lentis of penance en joined Comaundyng also all Archiebisshops bishops Abbots priors prechers of the word of god {per}sones of {per}issh Thirthes Chapeleinz and other {per}sones eccliansticall to iohoū this pnnt writing shall con under pains and censures of the holy church to publice in there churches and open places or cause to be publiced the said grauntis of our holy father As often As they shalbe required by the said iohnn being released as is aforesaid or else by his deputies And also to deputy ii discrete men for to gather the meek& devout alms of Cristen people in ther churches places during the space of iii yers from the date of his bull now last renewyd the which is the year of our Lord. M.v. C.x.v. and the xxviii. day of August And these ii men so deputed to haue authority to gather the alms of Cristen people and to take the said iohnn so commndyd unto give their aid and favor unto these thyngz aforesaid and that these .ii. men be no other gatherer other wise vulgarly called {per}doners be letted in that behalf and these .ii. men also oither deputies to give a good& lawful account of their Receyts under the pains& censures of the holy church As as above said
