An Advertisement from Henry bishop Esquire, his Majesties Post-master General. ALL Gentlemen and others concerned in holding correspondence into several parts of England and Wales, are desired to take notice, That since the Post-Office hath been granted to him from his Majesty, for the more hopeful raising the great increase of Rent advanced unto his Majesty for the said Office, and for the accommodation and ease of many of his good subjects, who have hitherto wanted the benefit of Postage, that other parts of England and Wales have enjoyed, and sending to and fro with such extraordinary speed and expedition, at as cheap or cheaper rates, then they can sand by common carriers. The said Henry bishop hath at his great expense, settled many new Posts in several roads and by-Roades, where heretofore no Posts have ever been. That is to say, Unto the City of Canterbury, and the Towns of Dover, Sandwich, Deal, and all parts of that Kentish-road from London, and also into the Downs unto his Majesties Fleet when it Anchors there, and all Merchants Ships there, every day in the week both going and coming, and into all other parts of the County of Kent, three times in the week, upon the usual Post-dayes, with answerable returns. And into all parts of the Counties of Cumberland and Westmerland, by the way of borough, twice in every week, viz. every Tuesday and every Saturday night from London, with returns answerable. And into that part of North-Wales beyond Shrewsbury, unto Mohuntly and Aberdoney, and parts adjacent, twice in every week, viz. every Tuesday and Saturday night from London, with the like returns. And into several parts of the Counties of Berks and Oxon, viz. Abingdon, Faringdon, Lechlott, Wantage, Burford and the parts adjacent, thrice in every week, upon the usual Post-dayes, with the like returns. And from the Port of plymouth, into the County of cornwall, unto Foye, Bodnam, Truro, Pensanze, and Marketjewe, al. Marhasion& parts adjacent, twice in every week, with the like returns to plymouth, and so for the City of London upon the usual Post-dayes. And from the City of Bristol unto South-Wales, by Monmouth and all other the chief Towns upon that road, unto Haverford West, and Milford-haven, twice in every week, with the like returns. And he hath likewise now finished a settlement of Postage into several parts of Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk, never heretofore settled, which is to begin from the City of London upon Thursday the three and twentieth day of this instant May, viz. unto the Towns of Malden, Braintree, B●cking, Coxeshall, and parts adjacent in the County of Essex, thrice in every week, upon the usual Post-dayes from London, with the like returns. Unto Nayland, Sudbury, Melford, Glensford, Kandish, clear, Levenham, Stoke, Boxford, Etherstone, Waldingfield, and parts adjacent in the County of Suffolk, by the way of Colechester, unto Saint Edmonds-bury, thrice in every week, upon the usual Post-day●● from London, with answerable returns: As also unto Hadleigh and Bilson in the said County. Unto Needham, Stow, Debenham, Twaite, Mendlesham, Wulpit, Stoneham, and parts adjacent in the said County of Suffolk, by the way of Ipswich, twice in every week, viz. every Tuesday and Saturday night from London, with answerable returns. Unto Budsdell, Disse, ay, school, Yaxley, Sturston, and parts adjacent in the Counties of Suffolk and Norfolk, twice every week, every Tuesday and Saturday night from London, with answerable returns. Unto Swafham, Fakenham, Walsingham, Holt, Wells, Burnham, and parts adjacent in the county of Norfolk, by the way of Saint Edmonds-bury and Thetford, twice in every week, viz. every Tuesday and Thursday night from London, with answerable returns. And unto the City of Elye, and most parts of that iceland of Elye, by the way of Cambridge, twice in every week, viz. every Tuesday and Thursday night from London, with answerable returns. And he hath provided sufficient persons, and very near completed a settlement of Post-roads to Rye in Sussex, by the way of Tunbridge in the County of Kent, and unto Shoram in the said County of Sussex, which together with the Post-road already settled unto the City of Chichester and those parts of the County of Sussex, striking out from Petersfield in Portsmouth-road, will supply all parts of the County of Sussex with the conveniency of Postage, thrice in every week, upon the usual Post-dayes. And also unto the Towns of derby, Leicester, harbour, and parts adjacent, by the way of Northampton, thrice in every week, upon the usual Post-dayes, and the same to begin God willing, at or before the fourteenth day of June next ensuing. And the said Henry bishop hath taken great care in the choice of faithful and diligent persons in all Post-roads, and in the City of London, for the speedy and careful delivery of Letters, and hath taken good security from them by bonds, neither to commit nor suffer any neglects, frauds or exactions, concerning the Letters and packets to be sent or delivered by them, and he shall take it as a friendship from any person, to inform him if any of his said Officers do act to the contrary.
