BY THE KING.  
¶ A Proclamation for the better preserving of the corn and grass about the City of Oxford, and other places where the Kings Army is, or shall be Quartered.  
WEE taking care for the preservation of Our good Subjects, and their Estates, and that no damage may happen unto them, as far as Our providence or Power can prevent it, and that the good fruits of the Earth may not wilfully or negligently be consumed or destroyed, when they may be preserved, do expressly charge and Command, That none belonging to Our Court or Army, do presume wilfully or willingly, with their Horses or otherwise, to destroy or hurt the corn or grass, growing in or upon any ground, near Our City of Oxford, or elsewhere in Our said County, or in any other Counties or Places, where any part of our Army this year ensuing is, or shall be quartered, least by such wilful or negligent spoil, We or Our Army, or Our good Subjects, may be distressed in the year now next ensuing, for want of such provisions. And all Commanders, Captains and Officers of Our Army, or any part thereof, are hereby required to take strict care, that if any Souldiers under their Command, wilfully offend herein, that they be duly punished for such their contempt, according to the quality of their offence.  
Given at Our Court at Oxford, under Our Sign manual, this one and thirtieth day of March, in the nineteenth year of Our reign.
