HIS majesties RESOLUTION Concerning the Setting up of His Standard at Nottingham on Monday next. Signified to both Houses of PARLIAMENT, August 17.  
Wherein is likewise Declared, the Number of His Majesties Army, both of Horse and Feot.  
Together with four Propositions, presented to the House of Commons, from the Gentry of yorkshire, upon Wednesday, being the 17. day of this instant month of August, 1642.

An Exact RELATION OF HIS MAJESTIES RESOLUTION to set up his Standard at Nottingham on Monday next.  
VPon saturday last, being the 12 Day of this instant month of August, his Majesty set forth another Proclamation wherein he expresseth his royal intention to set up his Standard on Monday ne●t in some convenient place which His majesty shall make choice of, commanding all his loving Subjects, that will aid and assist him, to repair thither; proclaiming all those that shall refuse to obey the Commission of Array to be Traytors, and using many great threatening words against them; and doth thereby appoint and ordain the Earl of Cumberland general, for the rainng of Forces both of Horse and Foot in the Northe●● Parts.  
whereupon divers Gentlemen of good quality, being well affencted to the King and Parliament, assembled themselves together in yorkshire aforesaid, and thought fit to sand the Proclamation with a full Relation of the State of the country to the Parliament.  
thereupon they framed a Letter, and enclosed the Proclamation therein, and ●e●t it away Post.  
Which Letter was red in the House on Wednesday els● 17. of this instant mo●th of August; the effect whereof amongst div●rs other things, was as followeth, viz.  
That His Majesties Army doth not consist of above four thousand Horse and Foot, and many of the Horses very unserviceable, and the men the very ●umme of the country, being for the greatest lewd and idle persons, that were gathered up and down the Countreyes, by beating of drums; And that a great part of the trained Bands of that County, that refused to serve themselves, or lend their Arms; had them violently taken from them by the cavaliers, who had plundered many great Houses of that County, breaking open Trunks, Chests, and taking all that th●y could find therein, with many more Out-rages, and inhuman Acts, which they daily commit against those that stands well affencted to the Parliament. They have also plundered Sir Philip Stapletons house, and Mr. Marwoods.  
But on Wednesday last, his Goods and Plate being taken from him, and threatened to kill hi● wife, to make her confess where her husband was, saying, they would kill all such puritan Round heads, &c.  
whereupon the said Gentlemen thought good to present certain propositions to the Parliament, for the good and safety of their Country and Estates, which were to this effect, viz.  
I. That the Parliament would bee pleased to make an Order that the cavaliers should not plunder and spoil men of their Goods, and in case they should be plundered, and robbed thereof, that preparatton might bee made unto them.  
II. That such a Number of arms and Ammunition might be sent unto Hull, that a sufficient store might be kept there, for the safety and defence of that County.  
III. That a considerable Number of Horse and Foot may be sent down into those parts, and that such persons whose Names were presented to the House, should be made Commanders and have power for the raising of Forces, whereby they may be able to defend themselves and their County, &c.  
IV. That there may be constant Recourse, between the Parliament, and that country, by some Persons employed f●●● the carrying of Letters too and fro that s●●●●y may more frequently understand the pleasure and proceedings of parliament, which in re●ard of the remoteness o● the place, ot●●●wise ●hey cannot do.  
They also signified to the House, that they had intelligence, th● 〈◇〉 Majesty intended to set up h●● Standard at Nottingham, or near thereabout, 〈◇〉 that His Majesty intended to go f●o● york on Tuesday next, being 〈◇〉 sixt●●●th of August.
