A PROCLAMATION Concerning Passes and Sea-Briefs, in pursuance of the Treaties with algiers, Tunis and tripoli. CHARLES R. WHereas His Majesty by His Proclamation bearing date the Two and twentieth of December last past, taking into His Royal Consideration, the manifold Evils arising from the Liberty taken by His Subjects Trading into the Mediterranean Sea, of employing the Passes or Sea-Briefs granted for the Securing the Ships and Vessels of His Subjects, to the Protecting and Securing Foreign Ships and Vessels, did thereby Declare, That no Pass or Sea-Brief bearing date before, or since the First day of January last, should remain in force any longer then until the First day of May next coming; And that other Passes in the form therein established, should be delivered forth by the Secretary of the Admiralty of England; And that no Pass or Sea-Brief to be granted( Except as is therein Excepted) should remain in force longer then for the space of one entire year from the day of the date thereof: And although it is evident, That no other Passes or Sea-Briefs were intended by the said Proclamation, but such as had been granted to His Majesties Subjects Trading into the Mediterranean Sea, with reference to the Treaties between His Majesty and the several Governments of algiers, Tunis and Tripoli; Yet to prevent all mistakes that may possibly arise touching the same, His Majesty doth by this His Royal Proclamation( with the Advice of His Privy Council) Declare, That the Passes and Sea-Briefs intended, and by the said former Proclamation declared to remain in force no longer then until the said First day of May, as also the Passes therein directed to be delivered out by the Secretary of the Admiralty, and which by the said Proclamation are required to be Printed and Indented in the form thereby established, and to continue for One Year, and no longer, are onely such Passes and Sea-Briefs as have been, or shall be given for the Security of the Ships and Vessels of His Majesties Subjects Trading into the said Mediterranean Sea, with reference to the Treaties between His Majesty and the said several Governments of algiers, Tunis and tripoli. And all persons concerned, are to take notice of this His Majesties Royal Intention, and to comform themselves thereto accordingly.
