THE DECLARATION OF Arise Evans, From his Study in the blackfriars, concerning his Highness the Lord Protector, and the Government of the three Nations of ENGLAND, SCOTLAND, and IRELAND.  
With his prophetic Proposals, touching Mr. FEAK, and Mr. SIMPSON, and the rest of the discontented and Independent Party: fore-telling, the great Change that will happen in this present Year, 1654. and the wonderful Things that will befall the Anabaptists.  
Likewise, the Bloody prophecy; concerning the lily, the lion, the Son of Charles, the Land of the Moon, and the Eastern Eagle: With his interpretation upon each particular: Directed to the people of England.

The bloody prophecy, &c.  
GEntlemen,  
I hope I shall be clear from the blood of this Generation, being sent of God to declare the things hereafter mentioned: For it is evident, I foretold the manner of the death of King Charles, and do herein fore-see a great and mighty change. So that if the people now refuse to hear me, who have had so many witnesses to show that God is pleased to declare his determinate Will by me) they of all others will be the least excusable for despising me, and so the least capable of mercy. For, have they not known how God by me declared the most remarkable things that befell these kingdoms since the wars began: How that 20 years ago I declared the things that befell my late sovereign, and that I suffered three yeares imprisonment for the same? How that I declared to the Earl of Essex 7 years before he was General, that he should be the peoples General against the King? Have they not known how that in the year 1646 I declared the downfall of the Presbyterians. How I declared, that the Kings Son would come to Eng●and long before he came to Worcester, and his success likewise? How I declared to ●he Parl. that they should be destroyed long before ●heir dissolution▪ And now, as concerning you, ye discontented people of Bl●c● 〈…〉 that use to meet every Monday▪ ye pray, ye preach▪ y● f●st a●d c●mplain, that God doth not hear your prayer, and ye cry 〈◇〉 Go● 〈◇〉 he w●●l●●●nd ●he Spirit of Prophesi● by some o●● or o●●●●, 〈…〉 un●●●●t●nd ●he things to come▪ ●nd y●● you ●●nnot 〈…〉 when God sheweth you all these things by me his poor Messenger; Therefore, I say unto you, bend your prayers for the present Power, submit unto OLIVER yout supreme Governor and Lord Protector, and then doubtless ye shal prevail with God in prayers for him, and have all your desires accomplished; that is, to have the late members of Parliament called to an account for all their vast sums of money, and to have the people eased of their heavy Taxations, and wearisome Burdens, which for many years( poor souls) they have undergone: For indeed what is become of the Bishops, Deans, and Chapters lands and Delinquents estates, forsooth? and many other things that are gone I know not where: no, nor he that has as big a head as a Horse I believe: But sure I am, that there are many worth a thousand li. now, that were not worth one hundred pe●ce before the wars began▪ So that you may clearly see▪ we have had more jugglers than Gypsies of late dayes. And therefore, if ye would have God to hear you, why do you not hear him by doing justly to his Highness, and submitting to the present Government, that righteousness may run down as a River, or else all your seeking the Lord willbe in vain; for if ye will still have your prayers granted according to your own sense and will, that is, for you to prevail, kill and slay all that will not submit unto you, then the Lord will show your folly to all the world. And do not you boast, as some of you do, that ye have had the Spirit of prophesy▪ these 7. years; that the Armies over-coming your enemie● is the fruit of your prayers. Alas! it is but your ●ride for it was Gods Decree to deliver his people into your hands for a time, to punish them for their sins, and he revealed it unto me 20 years ago, that your party should prevail as they h●ve done, and the● come to a miser●ble end.  
But I shal take occasion by the way to speak a Word also to M. Feak, and M. Simpson, and others of their party, meeting at the aforesaid place of blackfriars, not doubting, but when God shal arrest them, saying, 1 King. 21: 19. Hast thou killed and taken possession in that place where the King and his people lost their blood, in that very place shall thy blood be spilled, even thine; and set their bloody Deeds to cry unto their Consciences, saying, We are thine, and we will not leave thee until thy judgement come; and when Nathans Riddle is opened unto others, saying, Thou art the man, for thou hast given great occasion to the Papist to blaspheme, saying, These are the works of such as would be altogether ruled by the Bible: they will break their vows, and kill and steal by authority; when like Davids their sin as a bloody sheet is set before them. It will make them ro●r like David, saying, I aclowledge mine iniquity, and my sin is ever before me; against thee, thee onely have I sinned, by causing the enemies to blaspheme thy Word, the holy Bible. Oh now I will repent, and endeavour to make restitution to the families we have spoiled, and I will pay my Vows, and stop the mouths of the Blasphemers of thy Word thereby, so far as I am able, help me Lord, that J may prevail and appease thy hot indignation against me: and my desire is, that those of Mr. Simpsons party would repent and be of the same resolution: But J know of a certain there is a party in this Land, that shall fall by their wilful impenitency. But consider, J beseech you, that the Elect must endure and sly, until the Lord come as lightning to lighten the earth, to give them hope and assured knowledge that judgement is coming upon their persecutors; for ye know that we are exhorted by Christ Jesus, to compare what we see in his Word with the things done in our times, for he gives Us true signs; and then saith he, When ye see these things begin to come to pass, know that your redemption draweth nigh.  
Truly, I have no cause to doubt these people; for though they have not yielded to the truth: yet they have been persuaded that my Declaration was so much in the way of Gods Spirit, that they did not molest me at all when I delivered my Petition to the Council of the Army, and spoken in the defence of King Charles at that time when I disputed it before them all four hours together. And now I am as the Paul of this time: he was a mechanic, a Tent-maker, I am a tailor: I plant and show these things, Apollo, that is the eloquent Ministers of Christ are to water them, but God giveth the increase. I recommend all to God, and his Ministers, and I remain your faithful Servant in Chtist Jesus.

The prophecy and Interpretation.  


FIrst, the lily shall remain in a merry World, and hr shal be moved against the Seed of the lion, and he shall stand on one side amongst Thrones of his country, which Country is the Land of the Moon, which is to be dread throughout all the World.  
2 And there shall come the Son of Man, bearing three wild Beasts in his arms, with a company of people he shall pass many waters, and he shall come to the Land of the lion, looking for help with Beasts of his own country.  
3 And in that year there shall come an Eagle out of the East, and his Wings spread with the beams of the Son of Man.  
4 And that year shall be destroyed Castles upon Thames,& there shall be great fear over all the World, and in a part of the Land there shall be great Battels among many Kingdoms.  
5 That day shall be the bloody field, and the lily shall lose the Crown, and th●rewith shal be crwoned the Son of man.  
6 And in the fourth year many battels shalbe for the faith, and most of the world shal be sloopen; but the Son of man with the Eagle shalbe preferred, and there shal be universal peace over all the World: then shall the Son of man r●ceive a marvelous token, and there shal be great plenty of all manner of fruits, and then shal he go to the Land of the across.    

The Interpretation.  


THis lily is Mr. lily the Astrologer, and the merry Worln is a mad world that believe Astrologers, contrary to Gods mind. M. lily shall be moved against the Seed of the lion, that is, the Kings Seed, against whom he writ so bitterly. And lily shall stand on one side amongst Thrones of his country, that is, he shal stand for the Common-wealth: which country is the Land of the Moon: He compares England to the Moon, in regard of its changing from one thing to another, as the Moon changeth every month: so England to day is a Protestant, to morrow a Presbyterian, next day an Independent, and you know not what; and all the world looking uhon the di m●ers of England, is afraid l●●t some of this English Seed come amongst them, a●d infect them with the same disease, yea and conquer their Kings, and bring them also to ruin and destruction.  
2 The Son of man is the King which crosseth the waters from France to Holland, and from Holland to Scotland, to seek help and assistance: And Scotland he calleth the Land of the lion, in regard their King came from thence.  
3 By this Eagle that comes from the East, is meant the Dutch, ships coming against England, and some of them bearing the Kings Colours. 1652.  
4 By the Castles destroyed upon Thames, is meant the overthrow given to our ships in Decemb. 1652.  
5 By that day, he means 1653. in which the bloody battle shall be fought, and the lily shall lose his Crown: here M. lily appears to be the white mock-king; for he hath domineered the most: And therefore shal he and his lose their Crowns.  
6 By the fourth year he means 1654. then shal the World be in an Uproar fighting for Religion, but they must bow to the true Protestant Religion, and God will cause the Supporters thereof to be highly honoured in all parts of the World. Thus hoping I have spoken the truth to all, without respect of persons, wherein I am not their enemy, but their friend, being Gods servant in so doing, for his glory, and the peace and tranquillity of his People,
