WHereas We have received Information that several Persons besides the Lord-Mayor, Recorder and the Seneschals of the Liberties of St. sepulchres, Thomas-Court and Donore, have, contrary to Our Intentions, taken upon them to Administer the Oath of Fidelity to many of the Inhabitants lately in Restraint in order to their Enlargement, and some of them have granted Certificates of their having administered such Oath, when the same have not been duly taken by the Parties who have such Certificates, having procured them by undue means, and by payment of Money for them. We therefore think fit hereby to declare, that all Certificates granted by any Person or Persons whatsoever, other than the Lord-Mayor, Recorder, and Seneschals; aforesaid, are, and shall be, and are hereby declared to be invalid and ineffectual, and that no Person or Persons shall any time hereafter presume to tender the Oath aforesaid, or grant any Certificate upon the said Oath taken, other than the said Lord-Mayor, Recorder, or the Seneschals of the Liberties aforesaid, as they will answer the same at their Peril.
