CHARLES PORTER, THO: CONINGESBY. WHereas many of Their Majesties Horses belonging to the Train of Artillery, Commissaries of Provisions, and others attending Their Majesties Army, have been taken away by divers Persons, and used by them, without licence or Permission, and others are strayed and lost: To the end that all Their Majesties Subjects, as well Officers and Soldiers of the Army, as others, may have timely notice for bringing in and securing all such Horses as are in their Custody, or known to be strayed. We think sit, and accordingly do hereby publish and make known to all Persons whatsoever, that they and every of them do within the space of five and twenty days after publication hereof, bring in and deliver unto the Sheriffs of the several Counties wherein any such Horses are or shall be found, all such Horses, of Their Majesties as are in their Custody, taking the Receipt of such Sheriff to whom he delivers the said Horses: And if after the said five and twenty days are expired, any Person or Persons shall presume to keep or conceal any of Their Majesties Horses aforesaid, he or they shall be proceeded against, and upon Conviction punished as Felons. And for Encouragement of those who shall give Obedience to this Our Proclamation: We do hereby declare, that such as shall within the time before mentioned bring in any of the said Horses to any of the Sheriffs aforesaid, or discover in whose Custody such Horses are, so as to be seized by the Sheriff, they shall upon the Sheriffs Receipt aforesaid of the delivery of them, receive ten Shillings for each Horse; And as a further Encouragement, We do hereby declare, that any Person who shall find out, discover and secure any of the said Horses after the time before limited is expired, such Person shall not only receive the said ten Shillings for every Horse so secured or delivered, but also the further sum of twenty shillings for each Horse, which said sum shall be paid him by the Collector of the Customs or Excise of the Port or District next adjacent to the Habitation of the Sheriff to whom such Discovery shall be made, or unto whom such Horses shall be delivered upon a Note to be sent to such Collector by such Sheriff, acknowledging the Receipt of such Horse or Horses, in which said Note is to be expressed the Marks and Size, together with the Condition such Horse or Horses are in that are to be paid for by such Collector, who shall be allowed what he so pays upon his Account, which Note or Notes he is within two days after to sand up unto John Davis Esq; Secretary to the Lords-Iustices, in Order to such further Directions to be given concerning such Horses, as by their Lordships shall be thought fit. And we do likewise hereby require the Sheriffs of the respective Counties to give their Receipt accordingly for what Horses they shall so receive, and to take care that they be well ke●t until they shall receive our orders how to dispose of them, for which keeping they shall be paid upon notice, such sum or sums of money as shall be reasonable, and thereof from time to time they are to give an Account to the Secretary aforesaid within two days after the Receipt of such Horses as aforesaid. And whereas several wagons or parts of wagons belonging to Their Majesties Stores of Provisions have been seized by several Persons having no Right to them, are still Concealed, We do hereby Publish, that if any such wagons or Parts of wagons shall be found in the Custody or Possession of any Persons whatsoever, not discovering the same within twenty five days after the Publication of this Our Proclamation, such Person or Persons so Concealing such wagons, or Parts of wagons, shall be proceeded against as Concealers and Imbezelers of Their Majesties Goods, and Prosecuted as such with the utmost Severity of Law.
