A PROCLAMATION. CHARLES PORTER, THO: CONINGESBY. WHereas there has been great destruction of Cattle, Sheep, and hogs during the present War, Insomuch that 'tis to be feared that the remaining Stock will not be sufficient for the necessary supply of this Kingdom. And whereas We are Informed that several Persons intend to buy great Quantities of Cattle for Slaughter and Transport beyond Seas, which may occasion scarcity of Provision the ensuing Year, and be of very evil Consequence to Their Majesties Subjects of this Kingdom. Wherefore We have thought fit hereby to prohibit and forbid the Shipping and Transporting into foreign parts of any beef, Mutton, or pork, out of this kingdom, from six months from the date hereof, save only so much as shall be necessary for the support of the several ships Crews, outward bound during their voyages, and We strictly Charge and Command all Iustices of the Peace Mayors, bailiffs, Collectors, Surveyors, and all other Officers belonging to any of their Majesties ports within this Kingdom to stop and prevent the Shipping and Transporting of any such beef, Mutton or pork, and diligently to intend the due Execution of this our Proclamation; as they will answer the contrary at their utmost Peril.
