A PROCLAMATION CHARLES PORTER THO. CONINGESBY, THis Kingdom by the Blessing of God upon their Majesties Arms, being now reduced to Their Obedience, it is to be wished that all Their Majesties Subjects will comform themselves to the Law, and forbear all Illegal Violence upon any pretence whatsoever. But forasmuch as it may be feared that the Animosities occasioned by the late Rebellion and War, or other sinister ends and respects, may so prevail with some unruly Persons, as to occasion breaches of the Peace, and other Disorders. We do therefore hereby strictly charge all Officers and Soldiers, as well of the Army as Militia, and all other Persons whatsoever, that they do forbear to do any wrong or Injury or use any unlawful violence to any of their Majesties Subjects whatsoever whether of the british or Irish Nations without distinction. And We do hereby Publish and Declare that all Persons who before any of their Majesties Iustices of Peace, for this Kingdom, shall take the ensuing Oath viz. I. A. B. do sincerely promise and swear that I will be faithful and bear true Allegiance to King WILLIAM and Queen MARY, So help me God. And shall behave himself according to Law, shall be Esteemed a Subject under their Majesties Protection and equally entitled to the benefit of their Majesties Laws in this Kingdom. And every Iustice of Peace, before whom any Person shall take the said Oath, is hereby required to give a Certificate, if demanded, to such Person of his having taken the same, for which Certificate, neither the said Iustice, nor any other shall take any Fee, or Reward whatsoever. And We do hereby farther Declare, that if any Officer, Soldier, or other Person whatsoever, shall Act contrary to this Our Proclamation, they shall be prosecuted with the utmost rigour of Law, until they are brought to condign punishment, whereof all their Majesties good and loving Subjects are required to take notice, and to be Aiding and assisting in apprehending and bringing to due punishment all such Offenders.
