CHARLES PORTER, THO: CONINGESBY. WHereas by Our Proclamation bearing Date the Eleventh Day of January last, in order to the ascertaining what Persons are comprehended in the Articles of Lymerick, We did Publish and Declare, That all such as claim any Benefit by the said Articles, should by the Twentieth Day of February last, in a several Petitition to be left with the Clerk of the Council, or his Deputy at the Council-Chamber in Dublin, particularly set forth the Grounds upon which each of them pretend a Right to the said Articles, and the County, Town and Parish where the said Lands, Tenements, and Hereditaments, to which they desire Restitution, lye, with the particular Name and Quantity of each Denomination, As also their own present Place of abode or Residence, together with the Place where they Inhabited in the First Year of the Reign of the Late King James: And whereas by Our Order of the eighteen of February last, We did for the Reasons therein set forth, enlarge the time for putting in such Claims as aforesaid to the First day of April next: And whereas since the Publishing Our said Order, We are given to understand that several Persons who on our Proclamation aforesaid had put in their Claims in manner as aforesaid, have on some Pretences or other withdrawn them, and others who do expect the Benefit of the said Articles, have neglected to put in their Claims, as by Our Proclamation and Order as aforesaid was required. And whereas We have received His Majesties late Directions for Our speedy proceeding not only on the Claims of such who expect the Benefit of the Articles of Lymerick, but also those which were granted to the Town and Garrison of Galway: To the end therefore that such Persons as claim the Benefit of the Articles granted on the Surrender of either of the places aforesaid, may have opportunity to make out their Right and Title to the Benefit thereof. We do hereby Publish and Require, that all such who have so withdrawn their Claims, or have not already put in their Claims 〈◇〉 manner as aforesaid to the sa●d Articles of Lymerick& Galway, or either of them, that they bring them in to the Clerk of the Council or his Deputy before the Fifteenth day of April next ensuing the Date hereof, and that they do prosecute their said Claims with effect on the several Days whereon they shall be Posted up to be heard, otherwise We do hereby Declare they shall be Postponed, as to their hearing, until all other the Claims exhibited before us by the Fifteenth Day of April aforesaid shall be heard and adjudged. And We do likewise hereby Publish and Declare, That upon Wednesday the Sixth Day of April next We will begin upon the Claims of such of the Persons aforesaid as are already entred with the Clerk of the Council, and from thenceforth will proceed, naming the Persons in one or more List or Lists from time to time to be Posted up at the Council-Chamber for that purpose, wherein ten days notice at least shall be given, to the end the Persons concerned may be prepared to make good their respective Claims, which shall be heard in Priority of Time and Order, as they have been or shall be so brought in as aforesaid. And We do hereby further Publish and Declare, That from and after the Sixth day of April next aforesaid, We will Sit each Friday, Monday and Wednesday weekly, for the hearing and adjudging the aforesaid Claims, as well those already brought in, as those which hereafter shall be brought in, by the time so limited as aforesaid for that purpose: And lastly, Whereas several Protestants did Inhabit in the City of Lymerick and Town of Galway aforesaid during the Sieges of those Places, so as no one who Claims the Benefit of the Articles upon the Surrender of them can want the Evidence hereafter expected upon their Adjudication, We do Declare that We do expect the Testimony of at least three Credible Witnesses viva voice, whereof one to be a Protestant, for Proof of each Persons Qualification to the Articles aforesaid, who claims to have been within the City of Lymerick and Town of Galway aforesaid. and thereby to be comprised within the said Articles, or either of them.
