Londons alarum Or, the Grea● and Bloody PLOT OF THE Fifth-Monarchy-Men Discovered:  
Being a perfect Relation of their most horrid, damnable, treasonable, and tumultuous Rising on Sunday Night last: With the Names of the Gentlemen killed and wounded at St. Pauls, Re●cross-street, White-Cross, and Bishops-Gate:  
AS ALSO, The Manner of their Bloody Design, their Resolution and Intentions; and the Number of Prisoners taken, and committed to New-Gate, the Gate-House, awed other Places; Together with a further Discovery of their wicked Design; and a perfect Narrative of their bloody proceedings on Wednesday morning last. Likewise, a List of the names of these bloody T●aytors; and the numbe● killed and taken prisoners on both sides.

The Great and Bloody Plot discovered.  
THere being a Generation of Men that seem dissatisfied with the present Transactions of these latter Times, and being somewhat numerous, have endeavoured to diffuse their wicked poison in several parts of the Kingdom; for, indeed, they are a Generation most pestiferous in their Doctrine, and dangerous in their seduction, and so ought of all true subjects to be avoided: Yet( blessed be God) many there are of late, who being sensible of their erroneous Ways, are reduced from them, and it is hoped( in a little time) many more will be so wise, as to do the like, which may prove the Death and Burial of their fanatic Doctrine: Since it hath pleased the most High to put a check to their damnable and tr●●●onable Designs, tending to the utter extirpation of Monarchy, the ruin of the Nob●lity, and the desolation both of Gentry and Commonalty: For the accomplishing of this most horrid and bloody Design, they had secretly entred into a Combination to appear in Arms, and to meet and embody at their appointed rendezvouz: In order whereunto on Sun●ay night last several Parties too well armed began to appear in several parts of the City; some marching one way, and some another, till at the last great was the alarum throughout the streets; insomuch that the Trained Bands appeared immediately in Arms, guarding several Passes and Avenues: but before they could appear thus formidable, some loyal subjects lost their lives: for about twelve of the clock near St. Pauls a Party of Fifth-Mona●chy men marching that way, and meeting a Gentleman near the North Door bid him stand, asking him who he was for? He answered for God and King Charles. To whom he replied, who are you for, they said for King Iesus: and immediately shot him into the head.  
From thence they marched to Alders-Gate, where passing the Watch, they came to Re●cross-street, and from thence to the White-Cross, where they met with some opposi●ion; For Mr. He●ley the Headborough commanding the Watch,( a Gentleman of good esteem and repute, and as cordial to his Prince, as faithful to his country) caused them to stand, and endeavoured to make good that Pass, and impede their marching through Becch-Lane into Moor-fields; but the Rebels pressing upon him, he disputed it with his staff, and being overpowered by their great Number, s crificed his life for his King and country, receiving two shots in the breast, and one in his throat, of which he immediately died, his death being much lamented by many.  
During which time, great was the alarum throughout the City, the streets being filled with echoes, Arms, Arms, Arms; the loyal Party crying out for God and King Charles; the Fifth-Monarchy-men for King Jesus, being exceeding resolute in their treasonable Exploits. And had it not pleased the Hand of Providence timely to have put a check to their Rebellious Design, the event of their wicked Undertakings might have proved of very sad and dangerous Consequence: but through the indefatigable pains and prudence of the Right honourable the Lord Mayor their Design proved no 〈◇〉 feasible as they ezpected; for the trained Bands being immediately raised, they were forced to escape by small Parties, and the peace of the City was therein much preserved.  
In the Suburbs mayor Ralph Tasker of the Green Regiment, a wise and discreet Commander, was very vigilant to preserve the peace of those parts, and to suppress and alloy the fury of those fanatic Distempers; in which Enterprise this approved and noble Commander narrowly escaped a dangerous shot: but some that accompanied him were wounded, amongst the rest Mr. Hemington a plumber in Redcross-street was wounded, but it is hoped not mortal, two Butchers Prentices were shot at their own door near Beech-Lane end, an honest Fletcher near Grub-street end, and Stephen Proud-Love, Bell-man of St. Giles without Cripple-Gate.  
Innocent blood being thus  shed, mayor Tasker used all means possible to put a sudden check to their out-daring insolency; but before the rest of his Company could receive the alarum, and appear in arms, this party consisting of about fifty or sixty, well armed both with firelocks, Head-pieces, Breast and Back) marched by the Artillery Ground toward Hogsdon, where probably they had designed a rendezvouz. During which time, great was the Insurrection in other places, more especially at Bishops-gate, where some of the Trained Bands were wounded, and a young man slain: besides, one Mr. William Eyres was shot, and dyed immediately upon his Wounds.  
This sad Disaster( occasioned by a tumultuous Rising, contrary to the Laws of God and Man) has caused many to be deprived of liberty; five were taken on the Monday morning following and committed to Newgate: ten were seized on at a Meeting-place the same Evening and committed likewise, and seven on Tuesday morning last. As also many others are sent to the Gate-house, and others secured in several Prisons.  
As for the rest of this tumultuous Crew that were in arms, we hear that most of them are dissipated; and that the Woman in three legged Court in White-cross-street( where many of them armed themselves and left their cloaks is also secured.  
During this tumultuous Riot and Insurrection, these turbulent spirits dispiersed a treasonable Paper against his Royal Majesty and the present Government, justifying that horrid, unparalleled and most desperate execrable Murder of our late gracious Sovereign. What shali I say, my very bowels earn; my more, the martyrdom of so gracious and pious a Prince, has extracted a firm resolution to sacrifice my life for my dread Sovereign K. Charles the second. Oh wicked Miscreants Rigicides, and what not? to commit villainy unparalleled, and impudently out-brave it, is the badge of a desperate traitor and an unhappy Christian: Unheard of impudence! can God be the author of treason? or can any man expect mercy from God's hands that voluntarily transgresseth? Prosperum& felix scelus virtus vocatur, was Heathenish Philosophy, though without question a maxim in the Commonwealth of his Conscience, whilst Religion was made the stalking-horse to his Rebellion.  
The Genius of this blood-thirsty Sect, we may well compare to those of Switzerland, who went from City to City where they heard that Reformation was received,( not to any Popish town) and wheresoever they came, they presently troubled the State, and filled all with clamour and Sedition. By them was the town of Walzut miserable ransacked, and all the Inhabitants driven, away out of their Possessions: the like they were like to have done at Wo●ms, at Ausburg, at Bazel, at Shafuse, at barn, at Lucerna, at Passaw; I will not weary the Reader with all these passages, their bloody actions he●e on several persons unarmed, being sufficient to give a Character of their Sect.  
It were an endless task to rehearse their several errors, yet I shall for example insert some of the chief. They held among other things, that rebaptized persons cannot sin, because they are Gods Children: that all Ministers that hold Church-livings are from the Devil: that the Apostles had nothing proper, but went from house to house, that they had no need of the Lords-prayer because they prayed by the Spirit; many denied the God-head of Christ, for which two were executed at Neufcastle. In Moravia especially that opinion was received, which Country because of the looseness of the Government swarmed with Anabaptists, and was cried up by the Sectaries of Switzerland and upper Germany, for a land of Promise, and thither many of them removed their household, when they found themselves repressed.  
By Bazel there was an uproar of some Villages who swarmed with this Sect, they made an insurrection( as these did in several parts of London) saying they would have these three things, all tithes abolished, all Magistrates pulled down, and all the ungodly killed,( meaning all that were no● of their Sect) but they were stopped in time and dispersed. And the ground of these attempts of this Sect in so many places, was a dream they had of a temporal Kingdom of Christ, with whom all the godly should Reign on earth without any infirmity of Body or Soul, all Gods enemies being destroyed first; for all these Anabaptists were and are still Chiliasts, expounding literally that Kingdom of a thousand years, of Rev. 20.6. to be a temporal ●ingdom. That fancy put many of them out of their wits, all the Histories that speak of them relate many examples of their looking seriously for the coming of the Lord upon such a night, being warned by Revelation, which made them first and pray that night, and put all their bus●nesses out of order.  
Thus it appears evident, that the treasonable and pestiferous Ways of these men are no longer to be endured amongst civilized Christians: For if Treason ever wore a Cloak, you may see it here palliated to the life: and if we sum up all their Virtues in a Schedule, we may at the end writ traitor. Oh let not the Genius of this Nation be ever for the time to come guilty of extirpation of so famous and ancient a Government as monarchy: to be sorry for breaking the Oath of allegiance made to our Sovereign, is no Plea in the Court of Conscience. Perjury is a voluntary act, it divests the soul of its private correspondency with Heaven, and befits a Matchiavel rather then a Christian. Gods Name is abused, and Rigicidium called a pious Work: such actings as these upon base and mercenary Principles, hath exalted some of the heads of their Brethren, and leaves the sad names of traitor entailed to all Posterity.  
In a word, let all such who shall dare to attempt to lift up a hand against our present Sovereign, know, his tender mercy and clemency may justly be turned into severity, since that they do further presume to proceed in their treasonable and wicked undertakings; For, notw●thstanding their last wicked design being timely discovered, yet they rebelliously presumed to put it in execution on Wednesday morning last; appearing to well armed( as before mentioned;) But the alarum being again received, and the Trained-bands immediately in a posture of defence, their rebellious design was soon frustrated; for after their fanatic march from Cornhill into Cheap-side, and from thence to aldermanburic( being about 50 in number) they received gallant opposition by the undaunted resolution of the Trained bands; the White Regiment being as vigilant as any that appeared that day in Arms; the read was a● Loyal; and the Green, Blew and the Orange no whit inferior: during which time the brave London Apprentices a●med themselves an● seized d●ve●s of these fanatic spirits; pursving them from st●eet to street, and from house to house, till at the l●●t coming to the Golden Anchor near Moorlane end, 6 of them had there taken sanctuary; but being closely pursued they fired out at a Window; and at last two of them were taken, and 4 killed. But here it did not end, for immediately of e● divers others were taken in Moorfields: some were wounded ●n the City; and although the shops were shut up, yet great was the fear; for most people seemed astonished all the morning; but befoae 2 of the clock the whole party of these rebellious R●oters were totally dissipated, 11 being killed, 16 wounded, and the rest taken prisoners; though not without the loss of some Loyal Subjects.  
Thus let all Treason be rewarded, and Traytors punished, who hazard Life and soul in opposition to their King and country, whose a●biquitary Consciences play fast and loose with Religion, and who constantly Morning and Evening, add not to their ●●ayers,
