A NEST OF PLOTS Discovered; OR, A Rod for the ROMISH jesuits. Set forth in the Explanation of this following Figure: And may Serve as an Antidote against Popery, and Popish-Cruelties. For to Describe Them, I'll not Undertake, But Hint a little for Diversion-sake: And since in Pictures they so much Delight, Here is One ready Drawn unto Their Sight. Behold! A JESUIT in a German-Dress, Ready to Act All kinds of Wickedness: Like PROTEUS, they Appear in Sundry Shapes, And Imitate all Fashions, like to Apes; Sometimes a Spaniard, English, French, or Dutch, And in each Garb their Treasons are as much. Like to the same chameleon that you See, Which Changeth to all Colours; So doth He. In th'other Hand he holds a LYONS-Paw, To show how he the Protestants would Claw: Likewise His Vizard-Mask's in Readiness, To Change His Visage as He Changeth Dress; That He thereby more slily may Attain By such Evasions, Proselytes to Gain. The Fierce hyena, and the CROCODILE, Which Preys about the Fruitful Banks of Nile, Attending at His Feet, no less can be Then Emblems of His Bloody Cruelty: Whose feigned Tears do Passengers Invite, Till they have brought them to Destruction quiter. Then next you have the FOX, whose subtlety They Imitate by Wicked policy, To Hoard up Gold; their Avarice is such, To Hazard Soul and Body they'l not grudge. Then cast your Eye a little near the Top, And see how they a Castle would Blow up. Behind His Back there stands his Porphry-Chair, Where He doth All His Stratagems Prepare, In Hatching of those Eggs which there do lie, He Spends His Time in Cursed Slavery; And Plots so much until His Brains do Maddle, For to our Joy, Their Eggs do All prove Addle. For why? Behold! Old TIME doth Him oppose, And brings to Light the Treasons of Our Foes; He with His Sythe and Glass at length Appears, To rid Us of Our Jealousies and Fears. And by Disclosing TRUTH before the SUN, Discovers all the Treasons They have Done. The SPANISH-Fleet, which came in Eighty Eight, To bring Our Nation to Destruction quiter, Is Pointed Out by TRUTH, who will not lie, That We might know their Bloody Minds thereby. View Them in Council Sitting to Debate Such Cursed Things as HELL itself would Hate: For let Them know, We have not yet Forgot Their damned Design about the Powder-PLOT; When They with All the Devils did Consent At Once to Plow up KING and PARLIAMENT. When Protestants under Their power do Fall, What Tortures they Afflict poor Souls withal? You there may plain behold their Cruelty, Enough to Melt a Stony Heart to See: O! Bloody minded Wretches, that can feel No True Remorse, but have such Hearts of Steel. But to Come nearer to Our Present Days, How many Plots? How many Sundry Ways Have they contrived Our Nation to Destroy? And bring both KING and Kingdom to Annoy. Which TIME hath now disclosed and brought to light, And let Us See their Malice and their spite: For TIME is unto TRUTH so great a Lover, That Good, or Bad, He all Things will Discover. What Thanks have We to give to GOD Above, Who Sent Brave oats, and BEDLOW, in His Love, In Time to give Us Warning of Our Foes, And All their Dark Designs for to Disclose; By Truth to bring their Secret Acts to View, For which some of them did Receive their Due At TYBURN, where Jack catch did give them Rope For all their Zealous Love unto the POPE. So Fare all Those who Seek to Circumvent, And ruin Nations, KING and PARLIAMENT. FINIS. Printed in the Year 1679, for the General Assembly of Hawkers.
