LAUS DEO SEMPER. woodcut of eagle-like creature THat ancient Philosopher Plato gives us a Proverb for imitation. A man that spins out his age idly, and not distributing the gifts given him by God Almighty; he ought to be expelled out of the vulgar Society of men, and unworthy of the Name: This saying having taken deep impression in my thoughts, I endeavoured to arrive by Gods blessing and my weak endeavours to the study o● physic, to know what hath hitherto been hide to others, so that now I have obtained to some knowledge more than our Forefathers could boast on: I being able and experienced to cure all Persons that are bursten, either Men, Women, or Children, according to their different constitutions. Besides the several Diseases that I have cured in them Countries where I have traveled, in High-Germany, Poland, France, Spain, and Italy, whereof I need not here particularise, there being so many that can testify it. Now the agreement that I make with every one is, that shall come to be cured for Bursten Bellies, or Ruptures. That no man shall give a farthing for my Medicines or pains till he hath been cured half a year. Let the rapture or Bursten Belly be either Harnia Carnosa, Aquosa, Ventosa, Cerebalis, intestinalis, Inquinalis, Ramag Varicosus, vel Raminensius, vmblise, if you have had any of these Ruptures many years, as well Men, Women, or Children, I can help them going or standing, so that they may travail by Land or by ●ater, without hin●ring of any business in what kind soever, because I help them without Cutting, or any thing inwardly, without any pain or danger to their body, which I do with applying somewhat outwardly, and rubbing of it on the rapture or Bursten Belly, in such a manner that you shall be cured with little trouble. I shall not require one Farthing till they have been Cured half a year so well, as well those that live in the Country as in the City, only I shall require your Names and the places of your abode when the half year is expired. And then when you are Cured of your rapture or Bursten Belly; when the half year is past, then the Rich shall pay me Forty shillings, the meaner Thirty, the Poor Twenty. In this manner I will undertake to Cure you from your Distemper, let the rapture or Bursten Belly be neyer so big. ☞ Note. If any Gentlewoman hath gotten a rapture or any foul Venereal Distemper; or is subject to Obstructions, and is ashamed to discover her Distemper to me; they may speak to my Wife, and she shall relieve them very secretly. Secondly, I do cure all Persons that have been at Venus Sports: That Disease hath many Symptoms, it lies in the Head, Shoulders, Arms, and Legs, which Men have had a long time perhaps: also I do cure the Disease with all its attendants, which by reason that they may the better be understood, I shall na●● 〈◇〉 the French, Italian, Indian, High-dutch, or in English, the Sp●●● Pox, 〈◇〉 ●●atsoever can thereby arise, as pain in making Water, Runn●●g of the Re●●●, Shankers, or any Swelling, all which I do cure so privately that 〈◇〉 Wife cannot observe it in her Husband, nor the Husband by his Wife, and so perfectly that it shall never break out again. And if any one live not here, they need not upon that account miss my assistance for I can sand them such proper Medicines, as they may cure themselves. I do also help such as have lost their seed, and make the spirit of married People rejoice, being lost by what occasion soever, and cause them to be as sprightly as ever, this I can test●fie by a great many here in this Town. And if there be any one so spoiled by the foul Disease as that he cannot go out, I have convenience in my House for them, to cure them in eighteenor twenty days without danger. If any one hath been in any strange place and suspects himself infected with any distemper, let him but come to me, or sand me his true Urin, and I will again restore him to his former health, by cordial Medicines in which is no danger. Therefore think not much to come to me where you shall certainly find your health, for I take away all sordid humours occasioned by the small Pox or French Disease, therefore tarry not too long till you are spoiled by other Practitioners, and then it will be worse to be cured. This is sufficient for such as love their health, and such as have been tampering with other Practitioners, I shall certainly reduce to their former health, although they have been sweated, Fluxed, and lanced by other Doctors: I shall give you remedy by pleasant Medicines, that you yourself shall wonder at it: some perchance may say these are but words, but I shall confirm them by actions. If any one be troubled with the Cancer, either in their Nose, Breast, Arms, or any part about them, I have a certain remedy without Cutting, which none hath that remedy but myself. I cou●● mention many more Effects and Operations that I have done; but for brevity lake, and not to trouble the Reader too much, I have omitted them, being you may have my Advice at all times for nothing, and be informed of many Cures more, not men●ioned here; as can be Attested by Eminent persons, that I have Cured, which were left by others, and now being the best time of the year. Neglect not your own health, since God hath been pleased to sand a Means. And if any one cannot come, let him but sand his true Water or Urine, and he gives his judgement to the best of his skill wherewith God hath endowed him. If any Person hath the Scurvy in the Mouth or blackish Teeth, I can clean them presently although they be as black as pitch, I can make them extraordinary white, such as have Teeth broken by other Masters, I can take them out without pain to the Patient. THis High German Doctor or physician, Oculist, Chirurgeon, and rapture Master, Cornelius à Tilburgh, liveth at the Sign of the Sun in the Strand, at one Mr. Smiths a Boddice maker, over against the White Horse Tavern, between St. Clements Church, and the Maypole in the Strand; there is an Entry joining to the House, where any one may come privately to me. Who is to be spoken withal every day from Eight in the Morning till Ten at Night, where you shall see a Candle burning in a lantern out of the Window every Night, 〈…〉
