
Charles "Chip" Hedgcock has combined his love of the outdoors with more than 30 years of experience photographing in medicine, the life sciences, and fine arts. His goal has always been to create a unique vision of the natural world. He is best known for his images that explore nature and the natural world.
Chip has worked as a medical photographer at the University Medical Center at the University of Arizona in Tucson, AZ, and as a Senior Research Specialist, and chief photographer for the Division of Neurobiology at the University of Arizona.
Later, Chip became a photographer for the University of Arizona's Department of Entomology. Since 2009, Chip has been the lead photographer for the Madrean Archipelago Biodiversity Assessment, a program of the environmental organization, The Sky Island Alliance. The program, now called Madrean Discovery Expeditions, continues under the auspices of greatergood.org.
Chip holds a BA degree from the Brooks Institute of Photography. He is a Registered Biological Photographer and a Fellow of the BioCommunications Association. In 2016, he was awarded the BioCommunications Association's highest honor when he was selected as a Louis Schmidt Laureate.
