IX). Also, "At each annual election \nthere shall be elected a board of eleven directors, and a committee \non publication, consisting of three members. The officers of this Soci- \nety shall be a President, three Vice-Presidents, a Secretary and a \nTreasurer. The directors shall organize immediately after their \nelection and elect from their members the officers of the Society; they \nmay also appoint a Librarian and such other assistants as may be \nrequired" (Art. III). \n\nAt a meeting of the directors held on Tuesday evening, January \n18, it was voted that the annual election should be held at the place \nof the annual meeting, between 7:30 and 8:30 o\'clock P. M. \n\nAt the meeting of the Society to be held immediately after the \nannual election, Professor William Carey Jones will present a paper \n\n\n\non "The Conquest of California." \n\n\n\nThe first volume of the Society\'s publications is in press -\xc2\xb0nd will \nbe issued to members and correspondents as soon after the annual \nmeeting as practicable. \n\n\n\nJOHN T.
