Founded in 1926-27, CAIP functions with the encouragement of the American Hierarchy. Membership is open to all Catholics of the United States interest- ed in the promotion of international justice, charity and peace. The Association's purpose is to fur- ther, in accord with the teachings of the Church, the "Peace of Christ in the Kingdom of Christ," through the prepara- tion and dissemination of studies apply- ing Christian teaching to international life. CAIP publishes a monthly newsletter, CAIP NEWS, which is sent free to members as a part of their membership (non-mem- ber subscription is $1.25 per year). It also issues policy statements on current international ques~ions, and occasional pamphlets. The CAIP Annual Conference features a Mass for Peace, addresses by outstand- ing leaders in international affairs, general discussion, committee meetings, and the presentation of the Annual Peace Award. The Association has observer status with the United Nations and maintains regular liaison with the U. S. Depart- ment of State. The Association's affairs are super- vised and controlled by the Executive Council, consisting of a president, nine vi'ce-presidents, a treasurer, assistant treasurer. an executive secretary, and the chairmen of the report committees. All studies, reports, statements and r eso lutions on questions of internation- al policy originate in committees, are passed on by them and are issue d only with the approval of the Executive Coun- cil.
