The last recorded frame on each microfiche shall contain the symbol — «^ (meaning "CON- TINUED"), or the symbol V (meaning "END"), whichever applies. Un "^es symboles suivants apparaitra sur la dernidre image de cheque microfiche, selon le cas: le symbols — ► signifie "A SUIVRE ". le symbols V signifie "FIN". Maps, plates, charts, etc.. may be filmed at different reduction ratios. Those too large to be entirely included in one exposure are filmed beginning in the upper left hand corner, left to right and top to bottom, as many frames as required. The following diagrams illustrate the method: Les cartes, planches, tsbleaux, etc., peuvent dtre fiimis d des taux de reduction diffirents. Lorsque le document est trop grand pour dtre reproduit en un seul clichd, il est filmi d partir de I'angle supirieur gauche, de gauche d droite, et de haut en bas. en prenant le nombre d'images ndcessaire. Les diagrammes suivants illustrent la mdthode. 1 2 3 1 2 3 4 5 6 f l§ Canadian General Electric Co., Ltd. MINING DEPT. No. 101 ELECTRIC PERCUSSION DRILLS DESCRIPTION After sevei;il years of experimentintj;, (lurin<; which time large experience has been gained, we have pcifected an Electric Percussion Rock Drill which surpasses in every point all forms of rock drill which have been in use up to date. The flexibilit}' and ease of running the wires (which are strung on poles in the usual manner, connection being made to the drill by means of a single flexible cable of convenient length), can readily be appreciated especiall}' in comparison with the cost of running and maintaining expensive and rigid pipe lines for steam or air j)ower. Another and decided advantage is that electric power can be transmitted long distances with \ery slight loss (the maximum usually allowed being loyh), as compared with the losses from leakage and con- densation incident to steam transmission. In general external appearance this drill conforms very closely to the regular types of steam and air drills, in fact the tripod and shell complete are of the stand;ircl steam drUl form. Electrically it is arranged in the- form of a solid iron piston reciprocat- ing in a magnetic held and controlled thereby. The piston is jirovided with a standard air drill rotating rifle bar and the usual form of springs to prot. .t the front head of the drill from blows. The drill has a piston diameter of yi", a length of stroke of 6^ to 8J", length of feed 24", number of l)lows per minute 360 to 380. It is designed and in test has proved itself to be equal to a 3" Kand steam drill, , CANADIAN GENERAL ELECTRIC CO.. Ltd. Toronto, M.w, 1894. HUGH RYAN & CO Conttaotois, Smilt Ste. Marie Canal. ^^&^e.
