To the Staff of the Grand Tnink Bailway of Canada.

In severing my active connection with the Grand Trunk Railway,—
which takes place on the Ist proximo,— I desire to express to the staff my
thanks for, and high appreciation of, the loyal co-operation I have
received from them in carrying on the affairs of the Company. 1 am con-
fident the same loyal co-operation will be extended to my successor, Mr.
Seargeant. Many of the members of the staff have been in the service the
whole of the twenty-nine years during which 1 have been connected Aith
it; and I am justified in saying that no more zealous and faithful body of
men ever served a pul)lic company, than the present staff of this Railway.

I shall continue to take an earnest interest in tiu^ welfare of the
Railway, and of those engaged in carrying on its operations ; and it will
always be a matter of gratilication to me to h(!ar of tiie prosperity and
welfare of both.
