Coal Delivery to Locomotive Tenders

1— Describe the various sijsteins of delivering coal to tenders
that you use. If any mnchinery , staging or special equipment is
used send "blue print" of same.

2— Say ivhy different systems are used at different stations, spec-
ifying which you prefer, and giviny reasons for preference.

3— Give average cost of deli/very per ton v luler each system, and,
so that comparison may be made of value and thoroughly under-
stood. State the average number of tons delivered^ each 24 hours,
the number of men required, in the 24 hours and the average rate
of pay per 12 hours for unskilled labor. (It would make this com-
parison more interesting if, when a speciu I plant such as crane,
shute,s, staging, ^^c, is used, its first cost and maximum capacity
of delivery per 24 hours were stated.

4— Describe any special conveniences you are familiar with for
coaling tlie bunkers of switcliing, tank and other engines not pro-
vided with tender.

short ton of 2000 lbs., unless it is otherwise stated.
