NEWBURIFORT NEWBURYPORT, MONDAY, JUEY 13, 2 P. M. — FOR — NEWBURYPORT, f Took place at Mechanics’ Hall, S«lem, on Monday forenoon. We give the names — 238 for the 158 ftien required. They will hardly obtain the necessary number, as many of the men drawn are at sea, and others will be exempted, and a greater number-'will pay. Among the conscripted is one clergyman, Rev. Mr Hooker; but Senator Wilson sa^^s there are always men enough in the front pews to settle that. Several discharged and disabled soldiers are also drawn .among them the Rich brothers, each minus a leg. From the Herald Office four names are drawn. But we need not be particular — the list will speak for itself, and to many families in melancholy tones ; WARD ONE. Albert G. Huse John Hastings Thomas Hennessey James W. Hodgdon Frederic^ A. As w8 go to press the news of a great riot in New York city is poming over the wires. It is occasioned by the conscription — ^^this being the day for the draft. Fires had been set, and the firemen prevented from using their engines ; and all the telegraph wires had been cut. This shows a preconcerted plan — an at- tempt by force to prevent the execution of the laws.
