Among the interesting lots in the former group is a letter from Admiral Sir Pulteney Malcolm to Commodore Patterson relating to the ratification and exchange of the Treaty of Peace. There is also a portion of a letter written by Edward, Duke of Kent, the father of Queen Victoria, and letters by the Marquis de Lafayette and by prominent Englishmen and Americans, a twenty-seven page manuscript by Justin Me- Carthy and two beautiful manuscript volumes, ‘‘Recueil de Chanson,’’ 1756 and ‘‘O Geographo Curiozo’’ 1788. Among the colored plate books are ‘‘The English Dance of Death’’ and ‘‘The English Dance of Life,’’ both in first editions with Rowlandson’s plates in fine condition, and La Croix’s works on manners, customs, dress, arts and sciences in the Middle Ages, the Renaissance and the Eighteenth Century.
