SEVENTEENTH CENTURY TAPESTRIES 362—Royat Aususson Tapestry Seventeenth Century H Hawk, Fowl and Verdure. In the uneven foreground a hawk has descended on, and is seizing one of a group of agitated roosters. A magnificent group of oak trees rises at left, and at right, before a clump of fruiting trees, are red poppies in blossom. Be- tween the trees is a vista of a terraced chateau. Woven in very rich blues, greens, yellows, browns and ivories with occasional crimson. Exceptionally fine border of trailing vines of rare flowers, in the colors of the field, with superlative crimsons more freely added ; on Havana brown ground.
